The Giants without a doubt that way if we win we are only one game out of first place.
Cowboys or Giants: Who do you want to win?EARTHQUAKE2689 11-08-2007, 04:52 PM The Giants without a doubt that way if we win we are only one game out of first place. mheisig 11-08-2007, 05:03 PM I disagree that this is a runaway for Dallas. They still have the Giants, Lions, Panthers, and Skins on the road; Redskins, Jets, Packers, and Eagles at home. Not a runaway schedule if you ask me. Maybe the only easy game in there is the Jets, but they'll get better with their new QB too. I think the goal is to always win the division, and to say that crown belongs to the Cowboys after 8 games is just plain ridiculuous. I will root for the Giants, and for the Skins to take care of business down the road and the division can still be won. By the way, we still have to beat the Eagles this week. Yeah, the goal is to win the division, but at a certain point let's be realistic. In order for us to win the division two things have to happen: Dallas has to pretty much fall apart for the second half of the season, and the Skins have to kick it in to high gear. Are both those things happening simultaneously impossible? No, of course not. It is, however, highly improbable, given what we know about the first half of the season, that both of those events will occur simultaneously. BringBackJoeT 11-08-2007, 05:03 PM The Giants without a doubt that way if we win we are only one game out of first place. But we'll be behind two different teams, instead of being tied with one of them, which is what we'll be if the Giants lose and we beat the Eagles. Giantone 11-08-2007, 05:05 PM Giants ...of course!:dallas::biggthump Giants 31 Dallas 27 mheisig 11-08-2007, 05:06 PM But we'll be behind two different teams, instead of being tied with one of them, which is what we'll be if the Giants lose and we beat the Eagles. Exactly - I guess this seems kind of of obvious to me. There's nothing shameful about playing for a wild card. Take an honest look around at our team, our performance in the first half of the season and the competition in the NFC, particularly the NFC East. Playing for a wild card is the most likely scenario. It's not pessimism, simply and honest view on where we stand. That being said, I'd be more than thrilled if we didn't lose a single game the rest of the season and everyone else in the NFC East had a complete meltdown. It'd make my season. I just don't think that's real likely. Chief X_Phackter 11-08-2007, 05:06 PM Got it. In your world, history has no bearing on the present. I said it was a stretch. I am merely looking outside the obvious for something to give me hope. Sorry for bringing it up, but isn't it the experts that say the teams with the best chance are the ones who play well in December? You are correct, those teams are not the same as the ones on the field right now. Alot has changed and they are the two best teams in the NFC. We shouldn't even finish the season or take the field agaist those guys because they have already won the division and made the playoffs. No reason to be optimistic about anything right now, because it is too much of a stretch. Come on, I am making a prediction, a very bold prediction based on previous observations. That is all. Seriously though, conventional wisdom says that -right now NY and Dallas are very solid football teams, and their previous records mean nothing. I understand, but I however, am not conventional. SSG Wow, you really are angry aren't you? I didn't say there isn't any reason to be optimistic. If you look at my previous posts, I think you'll find that I believe the Skins can still win the division. That's optimistic. I appreciate your opinion and your optimism, I was just saying that I don't think the previous melt downs will have any bearing on the outcome of this year. Chief X_Phackter 11-08-2007, 05:09 PM Yeah, the goal is to win the division, but at a certain point let's be realistic. Are both those things happening simultaneously impossible? No, of course not. It is, however, highly improbable, given what we know about the first half of the season, that both of those events will occur simultaneously. Dallas doesn't have to fall apart, we simply have to beat them twice and beat the Giants in NY. That is all http://www.thewarpath.net/images/icons/icon7.gif I think if you want to talk about being realistic, let's not hand the division to Dallas after 8 games. EARTHQUAKE2689 11-08-2007, 05:26 PM But we'll be behind two different teams, instead of being tied with one of them, which is what we'll be if the Giants lose and we beat the Eagles. if the giants lose and we win we will still be behind them and 2 out of first place. CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 11-08-2007, 06:52 PM Dallas 38 NYG 34 would love to see dallas lose, cant stand them doing good. Redskins247 11-08-2007, 07:25 PM Here is the perfect scenario....both of these teams had their winning spurts lasts year, and then faded late in the season...if the Giants can beat the Cowboys, maybe then they'll lose at Detroit the following week, and maybe we'll beat the Cowboys the following week and then guess who's tied for 1st??? But it all has to start with the Giants beating the cowboys! |
