I think if you want to talk about being realistic, let's not hand the division to Dallas after 8 games..

Nobody is "handing" Dallas anything. We're simply stating what we think is most likely. The 'Chips still have to go out and play. Certainly, the season isn't over, and maybe the G-strings and the 'Chips will get a taste of the kind of injuries the Redskins have had to deal with and the odds will even out.

It's just an opinion. I think this is Dallas' year to win the NFC East. If you don't and you think the Skins will win the division crown, then more power to you.

I guess that's why I'm not in the Kool Aid crowd.

I don't care so much who wins. The fact that both teams will be beating the shit out of eachother for 60 min of football is good for us. Romo will take some shots this weekend too against the Gmen pass rush.

Does anyone else think this is the game of the week?

We? What, do you have a mouse in your pocket?

Actually, I was responding to mheisig who said "barring some massive collapse, Dallas is taking the division hands down."

That, to me, sounds like handing the division to Dallas.

And my counterpoint was simply that if we beat Dallas twice and take care of business otherwise, it won't take a "massive collapse", and they won't run away with it.

That is all.

First of all, no one is handing Dallas the division. They are effing taking it. And I love the idea that "all we have to do is beat Dallas twice"... There's an easy task. What about this Redskins team tells you they can take two from the best team in the NFC?

Those of us that think that Dallas should win are just being realistic, and realistically, Washington's best chance at the playoffs is a wild card. Dallas beating the Giants and Washington beating Philly will be the best scenario. Then Washington only has to outplay the Giants in the second half of the season, rather than the Giants AND Cowboys.

I'm hoping for the first tie since the Steelers and Falcons in 2002.

Great, Dallas is taking the Division. Let's pack up and go home now.http://www.thewarpath.net/images/icons/icon13.gif I mean if we can't beat Dallas, what makes you think we can beat the Giants in New York?

How about a little optimism as opposed to what you call "realism", because realistically, anybody can beat anybody in this league. All the redskins offense needs to do is start averaging about 7-10 more points a game and there aren't many teams out there that can beat them.http://www.thewarpath.net/images/icons/icon14.gif

Death to both is an acceptable answer. I really think my hatred for the giants is almost equal to my hatred for the cowboys. New yorkers bring the worst out of me, except for you kornheiser although I had my moments during the first philly-skins game on MNF. For our postseason hopes it is better for the cowboys to win so we have a better shot at that wildcard. I won't be watching much of the game anyway I'll be bbq'ing after the game trying to sober up for the drive home from FedEx. Maybe I will get home in time to catch Umenyiora decapitate Romo. I guess I'm rooting for injuries when its all said and done

That's a bit more than optimism... That's a flat out fairy tale. Washington hasn't been able to do that since Gibbs returned. And I think I'm being optimistic by saying they'll make the playoffs. This team is by no means dominant, and they are going to have to win a lot of tough games just to grab the wild card.

I'm with you on this. I don't think we're that far off. Really, it's just a matter of turning these drives that end in field goals into drives that end in touchdowns. Not an easy task but it can be done. The challenge is really to get the passing game going, which I think won't fully happen until they get McCardell (who at this time I think may be their best receiver) more involved.

This weekend is huge for us, but it's too early to hand the division to the Cowboys. Look at the Giants last year. They were 6-2 at this point and then barely made the playoffs at 8-8. Not likely the Cowboys will collapse like that, but as long as we take care of our business I think we can stay in the thick of things.

But then, I guess that's why I'm not part of the Tylenol laced with cyanide crowd around here.
