Does anyone know how many times we had a third or fourth and one to go and could not get one yard?
We got John Riggins from the Jets and wonder if there are any Joe Gibbs running backs still around

The way I see it is:
Offensive Line
You move Alexander as a G
We have a Heyer as backup
Draft a young G/C combo guy in the 3rd or 4th round and another one in the 5th/6th

Defensive line

Draft a DE with the first round pick if you get an equivalent one in the 2nd round then pick a WR or CB
Give Wilson and Buzbee a chance next year, I think after an off season of bulking up and learning new techniques this guys could be here for a while.

Secondary

Bring back Springs
Draft a young CB round depends on talent level at other positions

Wide Receiver

Give Espy and Mix a chance
Draft a young physical receiver, again round depends on talent level

Linebacker

Either draft a mid-round or sign FA

Running Back

Draft a Joe Gibbs type RB in the mid-rounds

Kicker

Draft one in the late rounds

Note* Bring back Springs, Griffin and Daniels (I'm on the fence on this one)

Definitely agree about the O-line, that's why I think we should spend our 2nd, 3rd, and possibly 5th round picks on linemen. I'm not convinced there is an offensive guard or tackle available around where we draft in the first round. Heyer got abused yesterday but it's part of the maturation process. Overall, I think we've found a real gem in him. I also think we might have another diamond in the rough in Lorenzo Alexander if we commit fully to making him an offensive lineman.

Defensively, I probably haven't mentioned this on this site before but I think Justin Smith would be a great pickup :) If we go the draft route to get a DE, then that's where I think you spend your first round pick. I think Carter has more than proven himself at the other end and Wilson has emerged as a good 3rd down pass rusher. One guy who had an underrated year this past season was DeMetric Evans when they lined him up on the inside.

Justin Smith?? He's a solid player on a bad defense. But why would Cinn. let him walk when he's probably their best defensive player? We need a dominate guy with a high motor on our front 7. I just don't see that in Smith. We gotta draft a guy. Someone like a Ware or Merriman. Someone that just creates havoc.

Does anyone realize that Mix and Calvin Johnson have the sa,e build. I like what I have seen from Mix. Maybe he can be our big reciever. From what I have seen and heard he is very fast.

The difference is one has serious skills and the other one does not.

yea derrick harvey is an animal always going and created havoc on a consistene basis, possibly the best pass rusher in the draft if he comes out

Except isn't he more suited for a 3-4? He is from Greenbelt, MD though

Still if we're going to draft a DE in the first round I'd prefer Groves or Campbell

This is what to see happen before kick-off in week 1 of 08-09:

1) We have to get a tall play-maker receiver that Campbell will throw the ball to. Moss isn't tall enough, but he has the speed, but he is underused. I don't know if either we package Collins and Lloyd to trade up with a team that wants a chance to win, and is judging Collins for his play, instead of understanding that he is a back-up.

2) We spend our money that we get from ST to either re-sign players, or if it makes better sense, get someone new. Retire #21. No questions, just do it.

3) Campbell has to start to follow Saunders offense, this made Collins look fabulous, he listened to the highest paid O-coordinator in the league. We realize that with a good bit of talent, and following Saunders offense, Campbell could be in the top 10.

4) We need to get a good kicker, we have lacked one of them for sometime. Arguably our loss was thanks to the momentum change out of the missed chip-shot field goal. 17 unanswered points hurts.

5) How about a roof on the stadium, that would make it louder!

6) We have to avoid long loosing streaks, no more than 2 at a time, it downs the whole team, in contrast, more winning streaks would be nice!

Isn't Briggs a free agent now?

I know the need for a LB has been mentioned by a few of you, but I am surprised its not higher at the top of the list. Fletcher is set, but Mcintosh is a ? and I don't see Washington having too many more years left in the tank. I would like to add a LB with one of our first 3 draft picks. Lets fix this problem now.

Depth in the O-Line

I don't think a big receiver is absolutely necessary cause we do have Mix who I think needs to be resigned because that guy has the potential to be huge.

Someone to step in at SS since I assume they're going to keep Landry at FS

A pass rusher?I agree about Mix - he has been great on special teams and deserves a chance to show what he can do on offense as a #3 WR, especially in the red zone.
