That Guy 09-10-2008, 01:10 PM it's all a gotcha game.
look, obama voted party lines 97% of the time, mccain 85% (at least, before the massive pandering, but both sides have been doing it).
neither one is going to fix america - we still have big problems with economic impacts of social programs (SS, medicare), insane nuclear laws (we could make energy and transportation almost free if we wanted), way too many inmates per capita (vocational training? relocation?) and no one's really touching those things.
pre college education can probably be improved too... i know newt had some decent ideas there - i haven't really looked into it personally. obama's plan is better than nothing, but i really don't see all these teacher's he wants magically appearing. he wants more teachers AND to hold them to higher standards which doesn't work. ask the army about it...
firstdown 09-10-2008, 01:14 PM Well I don't know what he was thinking when he said this comment but we do know that only one person running for office wears lip stick. If the comment was about race everyone would assume it was about Obama.

Yeah, but there are no racial remarks that are considered "common expressions"

Well if he wants to hold teachers to higher standards then he is going to have to go after the teachers union which he is not going to do anytime soon. After a teacher has been in the system for over 4 to 5 years its about imposable to fire them unless they break a law. The Dems have fought hard against nuclear energy every chance they get.

Your right the "pig with lip stick" is very common and I hear it used everyday. Laugh, I'm sure its so common then Obama has a history of using this very common phrase before Sarah entered the race.

Uppity (http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2008_09/014601.php)?

Well, at least McCain did...

Just because you don't hear it doesn't mean it isn't common. Hell, dmek's signature has it and it's been there forever.
Monkeydad 09-10-2008, 02:26 PM If you listen to the entire speech from Obama, he also referenced a "old, dead fish" along with the "lipstick on a pig".
Let's see...OLD dead fish, LIPSTICK on a pig...who could be possible be referring to? If you listen to Obama's speeches, lately, he sounds like he's always trying to be a comedian instead of someone running for President. He could be a good one if he didn't stutter so much.
If you think this was an accident, you must believe THIS was also (towards Hillary Clinton):
UoOFp-RDpvM
He's looking REALLY immature in the moments where he lets his true thoughts slip on occasion. You know, when he's not using a teleprompter.
Let's say someone refers to "big ears" without saying a name...we'd all know who was being referred to and you can bet Obama would be fired up about it. Senator Obama is just bitter that he got caught. He PAUSED after he said lipstick to get the cheers and laughs from the crowd. It was blatantly intentional.
Oh well, keep it up Obama, this is how you are sinking your campaign daily.

He also said:
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called 'change,'" Obama continued, "it's still gonna stink after eight years. We've had enough of the same old thing! It's time to bring about real change to Washington. And that's the choice you've got in this election."
I guess we should just assume that fish is code for old white man?
How is this even an issue with anyone? I guess it's ok for the McCain to use the lipstick on a pig expression when referring to Hilary, but as soon as Obama says it it must mean he's slamming Palin. Please.
