Did Eli catch the ball,it takes a team.

seriously, I can't believe you are down playing the play that eli made. Had he not made a tremendous effort to avoid getting sacked and the ability to see Tyree open, you wouldn't have been celebrating a super bowl. Do you not like Eli?

You're taking the title of this thread too literally. Obviously no single player wins a football game by themselves (unless you put a helmet and pads on Chuck Norris). Of course it takes a team. By "forcing Eli to beat us," he means should we focus primarily on stuffing the run, thereby forcing the Giants to throw more than normal. You're splitting hairs.

Which runner are you going to stop and if you do then which reciever do you stop and then will you stop our pass rush, splitting hairs ...no ,just looking at things realalisticly. When you say you stop the run in the case of the Skins that would be Portis and the pass would be Moss and Cooly. The Giants have 3 running backs and 5 recievers plus Boss....Moss,Hixon,Toomer,Smith,Burrass........... and a very good Fullback Hedgecock.

I like him but I also like what Coughlin has done, all for one and one for all!:)

Well, unless you plan on playing all 3 RB's at once, I would guess we would focus on stopping who ever is in the backfield. As far as stopping the pass, I think our corners and safeties match up fairly well, especially with springs back in the line up, which he wasn't the first go round. This will be a very physical game, and honestly is going to take the best game of our season to win. I guess the point was trying to be made, that if we can make you more one deminsional and have Eli throwing 40+ times a game then we stand a better chance of getting the upset than we would if you ran the ball 30+ times.

I do get a little tired of assumption behind your statement; which I believe is, if a defense can stop Jacobs then one of the other two would step up. I don't believe that's the case against the Skins. When we focus on stopping a running attack, we stop can stop it regardless of which back is in. And remember, your 3 backs combined average only about 30 yds more per game than ours combined. Pure and simple stat wise what has made your team the better team this year is your ability to end drives with TDs. That is what we are missing. We probably will hold your running game in check. (note by in check, I mean you will probably have a total of 90-130 yds rushing all told.) and you will probably hold ours in check. So then the game goes back on the quarterback's shoulders which is what the starter of the thread was really asking.

One significant difference, at least as of today, is Shawn Springs will be back in the line up.

Also, as of now I will take our cornerbacks one on one with your receivers, I think that is the one matchup in this whole game we clearly win. And where Shawn Springs absence really hurt us in the first game. Don't be surprised to see D. Hall and Horton given some space for ball hawking either.

This is jibberish mostly.
CRedskinsRule and 56Fanatic pretty much summed it up in their responses to your post.

Did you really just drop Sinorice Moss' name? That's funny. He has I believe ONE career TD? Yeah, we're terrified of Old Amani, Special Teams Hixon, and half the player his brother is Moss. The only receiver who is a real threat other than Burress IMO is Steve Smith.

Again, you're taking the title of the thread way to literally.:frusty:

"I think the o-line will take tremendous pride in smash-mouth football for 4 full quarters as a way to honor Sean and the close friendship between he and Portis"
I hate to be the bearer of bad news here but there is no way in hell the o-line will match up with the giants' d line...r u kidding, they had trouble with seattle last week and you think they can stand up to justin tuck, fred robbins, and mathias kiwanuke? give me a break...casey rabach is a mistake machine, jon jansen is finished, i mean washed up nothing left, and chris samuels is feeling his age (watch the dallas game when he was manhandled by demarcus ware). Through all this, Cportis leads the league in rushing...which says more about portis than the line because their pass blocking is pathetic.

im just being realistic man...in my opinion, this season is already a resounding success with solid wins over zona, the boys, philly...however, the skins have not beaten or even competed with the contenders - giants, steelers etc. Do i hope they will win yes...do i think they will win...sadly no. for goodness sake, they had to come back against seattle and they lost to the rams!!!

They are going to do the same thing they did in the first game. Hopefully they hold the offense to 17 points.

It's up to the offense to break out this game.
