Given the recent turn of events this is how I see the rest of the offseason shaping up.

- The team will sign Elton Brown within the coming days

- Marcus Washington, Renaldo Wynn, and Phillip Daniels will be brought back.

- Maualuga will be the Redskins pick in the draft at 13.

Signing Elton Brown will convince me the FO has gone full retard. He's a guard, a shitty one at that, and we've got Dock, Thomas, Rinehart and Jansen all guaranteed to be on the roster. Dock and Thomas are legit starters, Jansen would fight his guts out I'm sure and Rinehart just needs to pull his head out.

As far as signing both Wynn and Daniels I'd again have to say the FO would be in FR mode. Together these guys will cost about what we could have paid to keep Evans, who's younger and healthier. It does look like Daniels will be back but probably we take another guy on the roster to rotate w/ him, like Buzbee. It's a shitty situation as both are coming off major injury and Buzbee hasn't shown squat.

Bringing back Marcus would tell me the FO is not drafting Rey and dead set on OT w/ the first pick. Personally I think this is our best strategy where we sit today, as much as I'm fascinated by Rey, because we desperately need serious OT talent on the roster and there's nothing left in FA.

Are there no half decent RT's in the CFL to draw from? Someone Buges could coach up? Our only hope is FA and the draft?

Here's a link (hope it works) showing what's left in FA. Barnes is the highest rated and he gave up 7.5 sacks last year

NFL Free Agency - 2009 NFL Free Agents and Signings - ESPN (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/fa?sort=grade&positionId=46)

After Barnes it's Tauscher... so yeah I'd say it's the draft. I hope Oher and A. Smith fall to 13 so we can at least choose based on our scouting/interviews/etc. If this is the case we come out smelling like roses cuz the o-line will be balls compared to last year.

I heard Barnes was reneging on his deal with the Raiders so it's remotely possible that Vinny could have blown him away with an offer to be our RT.

I thought we we're limited on money now. About $9 mill in cap room and we've got LDE to address and a couple FA who were on our roster last year to re-sign and then the rookies... how much do u think we could reasonably offer Barnes?

... and what do you think of him for RT?

Probably so. Looks like Barnes is asking for too much money. I know some people inside Ashburn think the problem is they need to find a new starting RT, but others feel they need more guys like Brown. Versatile, young backups that make it less painful when injuries inevitably happen to the starters.

- Marcus Washington, Renaldo Wynn, and Phillip Daniels will be brought back.

Renaldo Wynn is one of my favorite people and I still think he's got a bit left in the tank, but I don't think we need him here. Blache wants one thing, and that's Daniels' return so I wouldn't be surprised by that. I don't think Washington will be back but they will probably look to bring either a veteran LB or DB later in the spring, after the draft shakes out.

- Maualuga will be the Redskins pick in the draft at 13.

Or Brian Cushing (I think it's starting to come full circle back to him...few more weeks to go though)

- When the team comes up in the third round they will try and take the best available Tackle. Possibilities are as follows Fenuki Tupou - OT - Oregon - NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Fenuki Tupou (http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/fenuki-tupou?id=71487#player-profile-tab-set-1:player-profile-tab-analysis) - This guy is my newest man crush. He has the size to play RT and on top of that he's just plain nasty.

Sebastian Vollmer - OT - Houston - Don't know to much about him but he's tall. A little worried about weather or not he can put his hand in the dirt.
Phil Loadholt - OT - Oklahoma - NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Phil Loadholt (http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/phil-loadholt?id=71369#player-profile-tab-set-1:player-profile-tab-analysis) Would be a coup if we could get him. Definitely has the size and personally reminds me of a more polished tackle version of Dockery.
- The team will eventually meet with Mark Tauscher if they find themselves uncomfortable with their options at RT and see weather or not he'll be ready to play by the time the season starts.

- As far as the O-Line is concerned the teams line could end up looking like this

Tackles: Chris Samuals, Stephon Heyer, Jon Jansen, 3rd Round Tackle

Guard: Derrick Dockery, Randy Thomas, Elton Brown, Chad Rhinehart

Center: Casey Rabach, Possibly Pete Kendall as a backup but not sure if the team would carry 10 O-lineman. Then again given how we broke down last year it couldn't hurt. Chad though could see a lot of time on the inactive list if Kendall gets brought back. Of course the team could very well use Jansen as the teams second Center especially with the likihood that he won't be seeing much time at RT this year.

- The way I have it calculated now the team would have 54 players on the roster. Canidates not to be on the final roster include: Rob Jackson, Scat Back, Marcus Washington, James Thrash.

I'd like for them to go OT in the first round, but more likely they'll stay with Heyer/Jansen one more year and get some guy in the 3rd round like you say
(Xavier Fulton is another option, not sure if he's a 3rd rounder though), and I think probably a running back.

It would at least allow us to go with a defensive stud in the first round if we got him, but it wouldn't fix the interior OL problems that haunted us last year (obviously).

Maybe I'm being optimistic but I don't foresee the interior collapse again. Dock is an upgrade and unless Thomas' injury is really more serious than we've been led to believe I think he fights back very hard. Also, if we do add OT talent then Jansen should be moved inside and again I think he's a fighter... limited physically in his lateral movement but just a tough SOB who will rebound on the interior for as long as he can stay healthy.

I really hope you're wrong about Cushing. His durability isn't worth a 13th overall pick and besides he played next to a phenom at USC... i know it goes both ways but think Cushing benefited more from Rey than the other way round.

... i think i remember you said Rey would be "overkill" at 13 in another thread. I don't get what you mean...

Maybe, but I strongly doubt it. He will demand to much cash for one. Second Khalif is a natural LT from what I've heard and read he can play RT but this is not is strong side.

I don't see him being blown away with a big offer to come to DC.
