I'm in PG county and it's dangerous out here as well. The winds are scary. I'm thanking my lucky stars that I still have power, but I don't anticipate keeping it.

It wouldn't be bad today if the rain we had last night hadn't frozen. We just has a little but under than . . . . Slip, slip and slide. There were over three hundred wrecks in Richmond alone this morning. JoeRedskin 02-10-2010, 12:21 PM My neighbor is walking from our neighborhood to Canton in downtown Baltimore - about a 4-5 mile walk - to check on his father's bar. Personally, I think he is insane. It's an hour walk in good weather. cpayne5 02-10-2010, 01:09 PM I'm west of DC, and we got barely any snow out of this last storm. Maybe 2". The wind is killer, though. It's filling back in where I plowed. BDBohnzie 02-10-2010, 01:49 PM We've got a good 18 inch drift on our front stoop, wind is blowing the snow on the ground and the snow coming down all over the place. Gonna be one helluva mess to clean up when all is said and done...the massive icicles hanging off the houses are impressive though. NWS Map of Snowfall Totals: NWS Sterling - February 10, 2010 Event page (http://www.erh.noaa.gov/lwx/events/?event=20100210) firstdown 02-10-2010, 02:25 PM There was a 50 car pileup on 64 this morning around Williamburg. They did not call for any real snow for this area but we did get some heavy snow around 10:30 for about 1 1/2 hours. Winter weather causes 50 car pileup (http://www.wavy.com/dpp/news/local_news/winter-weather-causes-50car-pileup) DynamiteRave 02-10-2010, 02:29 PM It's BAD out there. Montgomery County and DC have pulled the plows off the roads now for the safety of the drivers. Looking out across my balcony (I'm on the 11th floor) towards downtown DC, I would say visibility is probably about 1/10 of a mile, maybe less. You couldn't pay me to get behind the wheel of a car. I'm scheduled to work Monday (this past Mon) Wednesday (today) and Friday... I'm trying to call work to tell them I won't be in and there's nobody answering the phone. I guess the managers decided to not show up either. WTF. My street hasn't even been plowed yet. Looks like that pre-treated street from last night is long gone. I heard we are supposed to get more snow on Monday.. Tell me that isn't supposed to have significant accumulation with it as well. Please... firstdown 02-10-2010, 02:32 PM I'm scheduled to work Monday (this past Mon) Wednesday (today) and Friday... KLHJ2 02-10-2010, 05:06 PM I just drove into work because all of my guys called out and I had to relieve the guy that was here. The main roads are not that bad if you have 4 wheel drive. Getting to the main roads and snow routes is the tough part. Having a slumber party at work...priceless! bdubin 02-10-2010, 05:34 PM Time to start digging out! |
