Todd Collins? Sorry, never heard of him. Was he a kicker or something?
SBXVII 03-23-2010, 11:01 PM You want us to pick Bradford, my god. There's never been a QB in the history of the draft built like him who actually has been slated to be drafted in the first round. At best, he defies all comparable. At worst, he has no business being a first rounder.
I don't think you have any idea that it costs more to go from No. 4 to No. 1 than it does to go from wherever we pick in the draft next year to No. 4. But this, unfortunately, is fact.
Not necessarily. If I remember correctly DS and Cerrato took a little trip. Rumor was Shanahan was interested in Bradford and they were scouting him. This came out while we still had some 4-5 games left in the regular season so honestly most of us I think kinda started looking at him seriously as our next possible QB. Then it seemed a lot of other teams fell in love with him. I think we simply have had more time to develope a man crush for him.
I keep hearing how good Clausen is and how there is not much diffference in them. So if thats true then I'm ok with the team picking him also. After that all the QB's take a major plung. None are anywhere near these two. Most experts have the rest being picked either extremely late 1st round or 2nd round on. McCoy I've heard is second to Bradford with his accuracy his only problem is he doesn't have the arm strength for the long ball. I'd be ok with him also but I'm not sure if I'd take him at #4.
So no I'm not against taking anyone else, but I can't see taking someone who is most likely no better then what we already have. There is really only two at the top of this list then there is the rest. I'd find a way to get one of the top ones and move on. I'm just pointing out though that if Bradford is the person Shanahan is truly interested in then get him. If he does not have a favorite then pick one of the top two.
I also understand and believe we are not in the SB running for atleast 3-5 yrs. and can understand the thought process in regards to picking up a QB next year and still having time to develope them but I guarentee you we will in no way be in the top 5 next year in order to pick up a top ranked QB. Which means we most likely will have to give up more then what we have to this year to get who we want. According to peoples points structure. Atleast this years pick could be learning Shanahan's system for next year.
SBXVII 03-23-2010, 11:12 PM Dude how much of a looser are you? Everyone knows that Shane Matthews is where it's at.
OMG I think I just threw up in my mouth.
warpaint 03-24-2010, 12:20 AM The 09 Saints model is fairly obtainable this year, but we'd flip the units: it'd be the offense that would be rejuvenated by a philosophical improvement, and the defense that finds its place among the league's elite units.
I mean, we've been in the playoffs as recently as 2007.
And no matter what, without a top 3 or 4 defense, super bowl contender is pretty unobtainable, especially in the current division. And I'm done picking these guys to be an elite unit. Even with a coaching improvement, they are average in my mind until proven otherwise.
Then we had The Great Jim Zorn and his hard nose work ethic and everyone being on the same page years. Wouldn't have been nice to have this regime come in after the 2007 season.

As mentioned earlier quarterback, Jimmy Clausen was on hand to view the workout. Clausen was seen hanging around with a contingent of people from the Washington Redskins during most of the pro-day event.

So did he work out or was he just talking to scouts as if he was already a proven prospect and had nothing to prove?
Dirtbag59 03-24-2010, 12:50 AM OMG I think I just threw up in my mouth.
Dude don't discount Shane Matthews. I won a Super Bowl with him on the Bears.....in Madden 2001.
GMScud 03-24-2010, 01:12 AM And we thought things were bad with the Cult of Colt?
Can you imagine the Temple of Tebow?
I'll be the High Priest in that temple my friend. :)
