I'm pretty sure that Sirius streams over the net, so if your coworkers don't mind hoarding the bandwidth, you can listen to it that way.
WHFS gone Lococpayne5 01-13-2005, 02:29 PM I'm pretty sure that Sirius streams over the net, so if your coworkers don't mind hoarding the bandwidth, you can listen to it that way. TheMalcolmConnection 01-13-2005, 02:42 PM Sweet... I haven't dealt with satellite radio too much. Is Stern on NOW or does he come back in like the end of this year? I'm stuck watching re-runs on E!. Cush 01-13-2005, 02:44 PM I quit listening to HFS when they started to mix rap into their line up Redskins_P 01-13-2005, 02:50 PM Oh, I forgot to mention that I did go to HFStival last year, and it wasn't that great. Too many teenagers. I felt so old there. Not to mention how hot it was. The only reason why I went was to see Jay-Z and Cypress Hill. cpayne5 01-13-2005, 02:51 PM Sweet... January 1, 2006 TheMalcolmConnection 01-13-2005, 03:00 PM Excellent. Thanks man. BDBohnzie 01-14-2005, 11:10 AM both XM and Sirius have streaming audio...it's part of the Sirius package of $12.95/mo, but you have to pay an extra 4 bucks/month to have it with XM, or bump it up to $13.98/mo. neither is expensive, but i'm like others who say they have better things to spend their money on...i may break down eventually, but not anytime soon...unless 980 in DC goes away...although i cant stand John Thompson...it should be the Al and Doc Show... i went to the HFStival in '99...actually went to both that year...it's was fun, but to me, if you've gone once, that's enough... MTK 01-14-2005, 11:19 AM I'm pretty sure that Sirius streams over the net, so if your coworkers don't mind hoarding the bandwidth, you can listen to it that way. I don't think that would fly, but thanks for the suggestion. BDBohnzie 01-14-2005, 12:03 PM XM has that new MyFi, that is like a portable iPod for XM radio...and Sirius will probably have something similar...there are definite ways around using a stream...however, you have to commit bucks to do so... SkinsRock 01-14-2005, 02:56 PM Satellite radio is the sole reason that stations like WHFS are/were struggling....well, that combined with being ruined by corporate radio giants like Infinity and Clear Channel. In the late 80's and early 90's you couldn't get much better than HFS for modern rock in the DC/Balt area, but by 2000, they were already headed downhill, thanks to the corporate ownership. Thank goodness Jake Einstein started up WRNR, which is basically a current version of what HFS was in the 80's....the DJ's basically play whatever they want! Another thing, the way this is being portrayed by their two main former competitors runs from one end of the spectrum to the other, and exemplifies (sp?) why I and many other people feel the way we do about the two cities. 98 ROCK in Baltimore is like "whoopie!"...saying that "they won", and turning it into total self-promotion. While Washington's DC101 is handling it with total class and paying their respects to the fact that HFS was an innovator, and in it's heyday, had a huge effect on the area. That along with offering condolences to the entire staff that lost their jobs with no notice. As someone who pretty much grew up in the area, even though it wasn't anything near what it once was, and I hardly listened to them anymore, the fact that WHFS is no more is a sad thing. |
