REDSKINS4ever 04-05-2012, 09:52 PM Guys. We need ILB first and foremost.we have only p.riley on roster that signed for next yr.50/50 we get fletcher next yr. Than we need ort and fs.
Perhaps the Redskins will draft Vontaze Bufict in the 6th or 7th round if he's there. I doubt very seriously that teams will draft him high. After a lousy combine and a lackluster pro day, Burfict's stock certainly lowered. But at Arizona State he was a tremendous talent. He just needs some coaching. If the Redskins do draft him and coach him properly, he'll be a tackling machine like London Fletcher.

But, I don't even think he's willing to be coached. I think he has an ego.
RGIII 04-07-2012, 10:13 AM I'm excited to learn about all of these prospects. Because the draft is so weak in regards to safeties, will that push guys to at that position be drafted higher than they should?
Dirtbag59 04-07-2012, 10:42 AM Please dear God just once I would like the team to indulge on selecting offensive lineman. No more Linebackers, DB's, and WR's in the third and fourth rounds unless they're amazing value picks like Hankerson.

I just don't think that the draft is as weak at S as it is said to be. Two players that I like very much, Markelle Martin (OK ST) and Brandon Taylor (LSU) could be there when we pick in the 3rd Round. I haven't seen Trumaine Johnson (MT) or Phillip Thomas (SYR) play but some people think they are very good.
Another reason I don't perceive the draft to be as weak at S as some say is that there are also some college CB's who I like a lot who might be a step slow to play CB in the NFL but who could be converted to FS. I think that Casey Hayward (VANDY), Jamell Fleming (OU), and DeQuan Menzie (AL) could be considered as FS prospects.
Just my 2 cents, but I think that there will be somebody there for us a S in the draft.
Meanwhile, I wouldn't mind it if the Skins could sign FA safety Madieu Williams.
diehardskin2982 04-07-2012, 01:51 PM Round 1 RGIII
Round 3 Philip Blake or Michael Brewster
Round 4 Phillip Thomas
Round 4 Casey Hayward
Round 5 Chris Rainey
Round 6 Ryan Broyles
Round 7 Kellen Moore
I would be very happy if this happened.

So we aren't drafting a tackle?
And I wish Broyles would last that long, but I doubt it, as a matter of fact I could easily see NE getting him with one of their many picks between the 2nd-4th round.
diehardskin2982 04-07-2012, 07:37 PM Will we draft a tackle better than year 2 of Polumbus and Smith in mid to late rounds? Broyles will really depend on his knee. If we can get him we can maybe put him on the Pulp list then slowly work him into the mix.

You have to remember Brandon Spikes ran a 5.0 40 (similar to Burfict) and had some pretty bad character concerns as well.

Spikes' day could not have gone much worse. Scouts had been worried that Spikes was not going to turn in a great time, but he failed to break 5.0 seconds in either of two runs (NFL Network's Mike Mayock had him at 5.1). A five-flat 40-yard-dash is OK for an offensive lineman, slow for a defensive lineman and absolutely brutal for an inside linebacker. Spikes was considered one of the best inside linebackers in the draft, but even with impressive production it will be hard for scouts to overlook his lack of speed. As a two-down linebacker, it's hard to see how Spikes will go higher than the third round.
And in spite of all of that he was a second round pick with the Patriots and has gone on to justify his draft status. So needless to say if Burfict falls to the 6th or 7th round I will be VERY surprised. Either way right now the Ravens are the favorites to take him in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Great post....I especially agree about the big corners or even corners that are great tacklers but lack in the upper end speed.
Sure, there is no blue chip Sean Taylor coming out this year, so I think that is why some are saying it is weak. But it is not weak.
