im all about trading down for more piks. basiclaly when you get into the third and fourht, its mostly value picks and id rather have a ton of picks when you consider the shotgun effect and pray that more than one works out.

Washington Redskins

LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers (3/?).

Arkansas State safety Kelcie McCray (?/?).

*Syracuse safety Phillip Thomas (?/?).

So far those are the reported pre draft visits we have had.

Well at least we are showing we have a clue bringing in 2 sleeper safeties. From what ive read McCray is shooting up draft boards.

Mike Shanahan has said that the last minute cap space reduction penalty imposed by the NFL had a negative impact on the Skins' FA plans. He gave no specifics, but I'll make the mental leap and assume that we weren't able to fill as many needs as we wanted to fill in FA. In my mind, that has to affect the way we draft this year.

I had the idea that we would load up in FA and fill the remaining needs with far fewer drafted players than we added last year. The idea would be to try to move up in the draft and grab higher-rated players at fewer positions.

But now I think that the draft landscape has dramatically changed for the Skins. We're going to be adding a top prospect at QB who will play as a rookie, we traded away our 2nd round pick, and we got hosed in FA by the NFL. All of this means that the Redskins' timetable for world domination has been pushed back and that Mike Shanahan has bought at least one more year beyond 2012 as HC, assuming that he doesn't flop miserably this season.

Now, I'm thinking that our 2012 draft may look a lot like our last draft with the Skins trading down for more picks and trying to find some diamonds in the rough.

i think a rb w our 3rd is a poor use of the pick. if a rb is chosen, i'd rather it be w the last pick we have. but i don't want any to be drafted.

i wouldn't mind if we only drafted ol and db, wouldn't mind at all

The Redskins definitely need a young ILB, a RT, and a young safety. What I like about this coming draft is that it is rich in right tackles. It would be essential that the Redskins draft a RT in the 3rd round.

Does anyone **cough Smoot cough** know if we plan on trading some players for late round picks during the draft this year?

No info at the moment.

I'm in off-season mode anyway, so consider me "on vacation" until I've decided my off-season has ended

We're going to have you do the conditioning test when you come back to make sure you're ready
