So you expect an NFL quarterback to admit to being injured and risk losing his job? Look what happened to Drew Bledsoe, Manning, and Alex Smith.

LOL. Every single player you compared RGIII to was an older player who had been playing for teams that had drafted younger guys to eventually replace them. If there is one player in the NFL who should not have to worry at all about his job security, its RGIII. He made the pro-bowl in his rookie year for a team that mortgaged their future to trade up and draft him. The skins are 100% committed to RGIII as the future. He knows this.

It should never be on the player to admit whether or not he is injured. Favre once said he never admitted to being injured because he did not want to give another quarterback the same opportunity he was given and potentially lose his job. It is never on the player, coaches and medical staff should be the one saying we have to take you out.

Unless a player is bleeding from an open wound or suffering from obvious symptoms that are easy to diagnose (like a severe concussion), the only way coaches medical staff can understand a players condition is if the player tells them. there's no portable MRI machine on the field. All the medical staff can tell is that RGIII is limping a bit. If he's not honest about how he feels and how bad the pain is, they can't make an accurate assessment of him.

Trading Cousins is off the table as long as our QB continues to display poor decisions when he decides to run. (out of bounds/sliding) He isn't going to last.

At this point, I dont think there is an offer that a team would actually make that would be worth accepting. RGIII only started (and finished) 13 of 17 games this year. Without Cousins, we probably don't win the baltimore and cleaveland games and arent in the playoffs. Good quarterbacks are very hard to find. We cant count on finding one late in the draft - that would likely leave us with someone like Joe Webb or John Beck or Rex Grossman at quarterback.... its not a situation we want to be in.

Right now, Cousins is more valueable to this team than anything another team would offer us in a trade. If RGIII makes it through the next two seasons without missing any time, then i consider moving Cousins, but not before then.

So you are telling me he did not think his job was guaranteed right before that season started. Remember the controversy it created when he got healthy again? Imagine if Griffin got hurt and Cousins passes for 200 yards in the second half and wins the game and then wins in ATL next week. You think his job would be guaranteed or do you think if he has one bad game people wouldn't start calling for Cousins? Alex Smith was told repeatedly he was the starter but then he got hurt and Jim went with the impact player.

That is the reasons you pay trainers. To be able to determine whether or not the player can play. It is their job to determine whether or not they can play. Not the Players. What is the point of having a trainer if the player is the one who is just going to say I will play. Trainer is payed to look for signs to determine whether or not they can play and to give a quick diagnosis. If they don't do that what is the point of having trainers.

Cousins is a good back up. Bledsoe was the starter but he had never perfromed on the level Brady performed on when he got hurt. Brady gave NE sometinhg they never saw before. Cousin may do good but I doubt he will do it and look better than RG3 ever has. Plus Bledsoe was garbage in todays post Tom Brady standards.

Honestly, I'd prefer to keep Cousins. He's proven that he can be effective and we NEED a capable backup just in case anything happens to RGIII, which is likely.

Hopefully Griffin won't have Vick's games played record, averaging about 12 games a year, but if he does get beat up that much, Kirk can help carry us.

I'm hopeful that because Griffin's passing abilities are worlds better than Vick's ever were, he won't have to rely on his legs as much as Vick and will last longer.

What i'm saying is comparing RGIII, a rookie a team traded up in the draft to get, to an injured veteran NFL player fending of a talented young guy is completed stupid. Its apples and oranges. More like apples and tennis shoes.

Alex Smith has never had job security because he's never played particularly well. He was told repeatedly he was the starter - all the while the team has been trying to acquire someone to replace him. Or did you forget about SF's pursuit of Peyton Manning?

You are right about one and only one thing - its the team's job to determine if a player is allowed to play or not - but the team's staff cant do that job if the player lies to them and is not forthcoming about how he feels. It doesnt matter how many trainers you have - they are incapeable of doing their job if the player does not cooperate.
