According to NBC 4 in Washington D.C., Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is the driving force behind his father, head coach Mike Shanahan wanting out.

There’s reason to believe that Kyle Shanahan is what is driving Mike Shanahan to want out as head coach of the Washington Redskins, a couple of strong sources within the organization told News4 Sports.

Kyle Shanahan’s role in the organization as offensive coordinator may be putting the head coach in a position where he has to choose between his son and his job.

Sources told us that the coach is not being fired Tuesday and will be at practice Wednesday when the team begins work for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

It sounds like Kyle doesn’t like the direction his offense is going into with Robert Griffin III under center.

Former Redskin Chris Cooley told CBS Sports radio tonight that he believes Mike Shanahan is ready to cut ties with RG3. If this is true, I’m sure Kyle is the reason why he no longer wants Griffin as his quarterback.

This would also explain why Mike Shanahan may end up going with Kirk Cousins as his starter for the remainder of the season.

I'll say again, I believe the coaching staff is asking RG3 to be more of a pocket passer. I'm betting it's MS who is pushing for this and KS does not like the fact his mobile QB and read option scheme is being tweaked to MS's scheme. Maybe MS is seeing that RG3 is not running his system well enough and would rather have Cousins who is a pocket passer.

when the smoke clears.. what EXACTLY are we looking at this offseason???
RG3 had that brace all year, no camp, threw himself in the fire, no help, if he leaves hes winning somewhere else.

I just dont wanna see a great player leave this team. Without good reason like stinking it up in year 3 no brace ready to rock 100% with even a new weapon.

I don't understand how mike Shanahan thinks he's ever going to get another job after this. He's coming off looking like a irrational dick.
