How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?

Let's call it what is really is, a BS move on Shanny's part to further tick off Snyder. This is Shanny's version of the swinging gate play.

He's not concerned with RG's health, otherwise why trot him out there on a snowy and sloppy field last week? Why didn't he have him sit out the first few games of the season? And why aren't other key players getting sat down to protect them as well?

Calling it anything other than a power play is just naive.

No denying this but Redskins fans have to live with the outcome regardless of why things are done.

I think starting Cousins is a win-win situation.
RG3 is not 100% so no reason to risk injury now, he is the franchise regardless of what anybody thinks. That's what three #1s dictate.

Cousins could use the experience.

RG3 needs to sit and watch. I think he should share a little blame in this giant mess and I hope sitting him humbles him a bit. It would be great if Cousins ran the offense better than RG3 so he can realize he still needs a lot of work and his athleticism is only a small part of playing QB.

No matter what happens, Shanahan is going to spin it in his favor.
If cousins does great, he will say RG3 was forced on him.
If cousins sucks, he will say they don't have the personnel to run his offense.

I only hope the backup linemen get a chance to play too.

Can't wait for the next chapter...

Trent Williams and Robert Griffin are a nice foundation for the future because it's expensive to find players at those positions, let alone good, young players. Certainly beats Jason Campbell and Stephon Heyer.

The difference of course is that in 2010 we had a mostly complete defensive unit and the ability to invest on offense immediately in order to win. The defensive end of the ball is now going to be a complete rebuild.

You and I have very different recollections of the 2009 defense inherited by Shanny.

What if Kirk plays well? We are playing against some of the worse defenses in the NFL coming up. Does he then pull Kirk, and put back in RG3? lol

It's the manipulating on top of the lying that irks me.

Coaches don't necessarily lie all the time, they just skirt around the truth.

Shanny is just a rat bastard trying to get out of town without taking blame for the mess he created.

This is dead on.

I will be disgusted if he ever gets another coaching job.

I really have to wonder what sparked this whole thing. Like was there an exact moment that Shanahan caught Snyder pissing in his coffee?

I think it was once he saw the ship was sinking and there was no winning streak in the works to save his ass again.

Well he certainly deserves plenty of blame. However, it's obvious that the owner has created some of the mess too.

So its time to start punching everybody in the nuts?

Yes he did, mistake #1 was giving him total control. But coming off the Vinny/Zorn fiasco it's understandable he was desperate.

Snyder could end it by firing Shanahan today.
