Re: Redskins Lions postgame
I can't understand why we have inexplicably abandoned the read option. Is it so much to do with Griffin being on a bad leg, or is it just two different philosophies between Mike and Kyle? I would hope they would go back to what made them successful last season.
We might be 0-4 coming out of the bye and at that point, i think it would be good to fire Haslett. The defense cannot get any worse, as others have pointed out...

Redskins Lions postgame

Edit: just saw goats question as to him being hc. Most of the talk was him being a dc though- which i am all for. As for a hc i agree with you, although depending on who would be his oc it might work? Edit: this is all just conjecture based on the possibility of us finishing3-13 or somethinglike that. Im not calling for in season change Last edited by punch it in; 09-24-2013 at 08:43 AM. |

I completely agree with you. There's nothing to REBUILD...we've been building and 3 weeks does not make a whole season. To start "rebuilding" would be tearing down a VERY solid team. You don't blow things up because of a short-term losing streak. Did we hold a fire sale and clean out the coaching staff when we were 3-6 last season? This team is NOT this bad. We're in a tough situation transitioning Griffin back into games but the defense is the real problem. On paper we're talented and deep, so maybe Haslett is the culprit or replacing him might motivate the D, but the players we've put together are not the problem, it's their execution for some unknown reason.

Re: Redskins Lions postgame
Perry Riley AMA tomorrow at 4:15pm.
Wonder if he'll answer anything real about that shitty defense.

Re: Redskins Lions postgame
IMO Until Gryphon gets fully back in the groove and can beat folks with both legs and arm, defenses will keep stacking the LOS to stop Morris. In such situations the read option becomes just a play action pass.
One of these weeks a defense is going to stack the LOS, only to find that RGIII is back in the groove. On that day RGIII will have a monster game.

Re: Redskins Lions postgame
That 21 yard scramble was pretty impressive though. I think the issue is that Robert's initial "take off" is slow, but once he gets into second gear, he's just as deadly with his legs as he was last year. In retrospect, I'm thinking that regardless of III's health, it was/is the plan of the Shannys to reduce the amount of read option this year, because they want Griffin to continue developing as a true NFL passing quarterback. Eventually, I see this paying off for Griffin down the road. Griffin is not always going to be a dangerous runner, so he's going to have to develop his drop back passing skills and improve on those mechanics.
