Re: JLC: Redskins Interested in Adam Carriker

if haslett beleives that carriker could start here and play well, then i'd trade carter to the rams (assuming they wanted him and he was willing to go there) straight up. I'd even throw in a 7th round pick if I had to, but thats about as far as i'd go. Carter is on the wrong side of 30 and coming off the best year in his career. he doesn't fit in our new defense and its an uncapped year. if there's ever going to be a time to move him, its now.

Exactly my thoughts. Carter doesn't have a spot in the 3-4 and he's aging, so we really should get what we can for him now. It's always better to trade player a year too early than a year too late. I would be happy to get Carriker for Carter straight up. There's significant injury risk, so have the team doctors evaluate him. He's built ideally for a 3-4 DE and at 25 could be a starter for years to come. The potential reward outweighs the risk IMO.

Call me crazy, but I think a guy like Carter could be beneficial for the Rams. I believe their d-line is very young, so a veteran coming off a great season would help them.

Just saw Carter has a no-trade clause in his contract, so he has to approve going anywhere. I dont know too many people that would want to go to St. Louis...... Unless the money was right or the other option is you get cut and you dont think you could get your salary anywhere else in FA.

Also a little off topic, does anyone know any of the other Redskins with no-trade clauses in their contracts?

I saw a Gibbs interview and he was talking about when he came to the team and was trying to get Riggens back and finally convinced him all the while planning to trade him as soon as he could. Then Riggens made one stipulation in coming back. A no-trade clause. It was hilarious to watch Gibbs and Riggens tell that story.

Oh Yeah...Excellent Point...makes me happy because I'd rather keep him than some crappy low round draft pick

I agree... I don't see Andre accepting a trade w/ the Rams... especially with the possibility of the Redskins releasing him, allowing him to be a free agent.
