And I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I think I will.

See the bottom of this post:

Do I win a Warpath t-shirt or something? Maybe a piece of pie?

I can't believe that you guys got a sixth round pick for Archuleta, and rid yourselves of his contract.

Good work.

Thanks...

I am sure you can get almost the same for Roy "Santana's whipping boy" Williams.. lol.. So had to make a joke at your expenses. Cheers,

Guys i've been out of circulation for a while, but as far as Archuleta's status goes..... THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I admit I was on the bandwagon when we first signed him about a year ago.. Arch was a bum and a coward... i was at the last game of the year and i got to the game pretty early to catch warm-ups.... arch was the only player sitting in the end zone listening to his i-pod while the rest of the team was gearing up to play the g-men... WTF!!!!!????? DOUCHE!!!!!!!! Stoutmire is a good pick-up but i wish- and Mr. 21 prolly wishes- that the name was Clark instead....

No man named Landry should ever wear a Redskins uniform (RIP Tom)

Seriously though, we need help on the line. Landry will not make us a better team

Are you kidding? Landry would be a huge help in the secondary, the guy can match up and cover WR's let alone TE's and backs. One of our biggest problems last season was the absolute lack of safety help for Taylor and the rest of the D-backs, every team attacked AA and anyone else we put there, which hinderd Taylors effectivness with teams just throwing away from him.

I think other than C. Johnson he may be the best player in the top 10

If you put 2 players at the safety position who both can run sub 4.4 that will help our CB's immensly, the ground both Taylor and Landry could cover as Safeties may be unpressidented in football history, when's the last time a team put 2 safeties on the field with that kind of speed? The guy could probably fill in at CB if need be with 4.34 speed.

Safety may not be our biggest need, but given this kid's talent it just may be the right pick, I am not sold on the D-linemen out there, and we have a fair chance of trading down a couple of spots and picking up a 2nd rounder as well. This kid is a better safety than any of these linemen are at thier perspective positions.

I would hope to trade down and grab Landry, then see if we can come away with one of 3 different players, either Jarvis Moss who I think in a couple of years after having added some bulk to his frame might be the best of the pass rushers, [he reminds me a little of Charles haley] Justin Blalock, or Ben Grubbs at the O-guard position. I think we need to draft for talent rather than need right now, I don't want to get wrapped up into drafting a lineman who is just an average NFL lineman, I see to many weakness in these lineman, there really isn't a total package amoungst them.

we need to draft someone to fix our crappy D line. landry won't fix this defense, and taking him won't leave us any picks to fix the D line, and there aren't any FAs to really help there (cept scott, who it doesn't look like we're signing).

landry might be great, but him + our Dline <<<< prioleau + #6pick in terms of overall effectiveness. moss is a late first rounder, and blalock and grubbs will go in the early 2nd at worst, before we'd have a chance to take any of them.

On my way home from work this morning I heard on Sirius Radio that the pick was for a 6th round which could move to a 5th round, like i asked before how can that change if the pick is a 2007 pick seeing that he wont hit the field before the draft.

If we trade down and Landry is one of several picks, sure I have no problem with that. But I believe if we hold at #6 and take Landry over a D-lineman...well then, we might as well just draft Ted Ginn at #6 and make him our safety

Wow! I just saw this now.

Schneed, looks like you were right on. From the Post:

washingtonpost.com - nation, world, technology and Washington area news and headlines (http://washingtonpost.com)

"The Redskins and Archuleta agreed to postpone his original deadline of March 12 to receive his bonus payment in order to facilitate a trade, and the Bears, whose coach, Lovie Smith, has a strong relationship with the safety from their time together in St. Louis, ultimately agreed to pick up that $5 million payment as part of the deal, sources said, beating today's new deadline for the option."

IMO this is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Snyder pulled a real coup here. I don't know how we convinced them to give us a 6th rounder AND take the $5M bonus payment.

I didn't know they could but I'm loving it!

I'm not sure if it's a change in the CBA, or if Snyder's just getting smarter with the signing bonuses, but it's been a trend with our recent signings. Arch, Randle-El, Carter, Lloyd, Samuels, Rabach, Patten, Jansen, Thomas, Moss, Taylor all had their signing bonuses split over the first 2 years of the contract. I figured this was just a way to delay some money past the current year, but now I see how valuable it can be. If you screw up on a guy (Arch), you still have time to recoup some of the signing bonus.

As Frank the Tank once said, "It's genius!"

Bonuses count against whoever pays them so when we agreed to delay it and then traded him the Bears were on the hook for the payment and therefore the cap ramifications. I think paying a 5m bonus wasn't in their plans so they just reworked it to be several bonuses. He loses no money just doesn't get it all at once and he gets to play where he wanted to all along.

As for JLC's post in the blog I am somewhat disappointed. I tend to agree with most of what he says but I think in this case he is letting his emotions take over. I'll agree that on the face of it it sounds weird to trade a guy just to have his cap hit bigger this year but he basically minimizes the future cap savings, minimizes the not having to give the guy 5m, and minimizes the effect this guy could have had as a distraction this season. I seem to remember on several occasions him making positive comments about Arch and his demeanor but in the end Arch comes off to me as a much more insidious type cancer.

He clearly didn't want to be here. He didn't like that he wasn't going to start and then when he had to be an every down safety he didn't like that the scheme made him have to do something he wasn't good at. He had to cover and it made him look bad. Real bad. And then he gets mad because he feels hung out to dry by the coaches who I don't even remember once saying anything negative about him. Don't get me wrong the coaching should bear some responsibility here but as a professional he needed to man up and just do his job. Your a f*cking safety in the NFL and you can't cover! That's YOUR JOB dumbass. Stop getting all pissed off and go do your job. Don't weasel around and look all high and mighty by "taking the high road" and then do an off the record interview for ESPN basically throwing the entire coaching staff under the bus and expect them to be ok with it. It's called loyalty and just because you perceived that they didn't show you any deoesn't mean you aren't wrong. They're trying win football games and when one guy has made SERIOUS errors constantly don't think they aren't going to make changes. He should have felt "Well I am losing my job but at least no one has clled me out publicly. At least they're handling this internally." But no he just gets all pissy and acts like a baby because no one is holding his f*cking hand and treating him like the little bitch kid he is. He's probably lucky that Williams didn't have a hit taken out on him after the Friend article. The guy had to go. He was a distraction whether JLC wants to admit it or not.

Rant over.
