How about Lane Kiffin? He's a young guy who probably wouldn't object to having his coordinators pre-chosen. He also is probably one of the 3 or 4 coaches in the league who's worked for an owner with a worse reputation than Snyder. His players all spoke well of him when word came out about AD asking for his resignation...

Mariucci
Cowher should not be on the list, he's not a real candidate.

I think Vince Lombardi would be my pick -- of course, we will need a Ouiji board to get his play calling....
The whole "who do you want" question is difficult to answer without knowing more about what any of the candidates would be able to do in terms of personnel control, selecting assistants, etc.
What irks me about this whole coaching debacle is that we have not had any stability -- we will be on our 5th coach (not counting the brief Robiskie stint) in the 8 years that Snyder has owned the team. There is NO WAY to be successful like this. Imagine this -- let's assume in another 10 years, Danny hasn't learned his lesson about meddling and we go through another 5 coaches. Does anyone think the Redskins go to the Superbowl when faced with that kind of instability? Me neither. Now, granted, Danny was likely as surprised as any of us that Gibbs retirned without returning for the final year of his contract. But to blow it up and start over is an overraction and the mark of someone who has no concept of what it takes to build a successful sports franchise.
Williams gave us the greatest chance at stability. Now, we're starting over (again). Snyer is an impetuous child and we run the risk that he runs this franchise into the ground like Peter Angelos has done with the Baltimore Orioles.
Done my rant (for now).

Greetings from a newbie.
Rather than an opinion, I have a few questions:
With Jim Zorn running the offense, are the Skins better off with Fassel (or another offense-minded coach) as opposed to Meeks, Spagnuolo or Schwartz?
Also, have I missed some news on Don Breaux, who has been holding the title of offensive coordinator? Has he been cut loose officially?
What makes you think Fassel is not an O coach???

I do think Jim Fassel is an offense-minded coach. Since Zorn is a 1st time coordinator, I wondered if it made more sense to have a head coach, like Fassel, whose has expertise with that facet of the game. The others who have interviewed all work the other side of the game -- and our present defensive coaching staff seems pretty experienced.
Thoughts?

FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Carroll no longer a serious candidate with Redskins (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7729402?MSNHPHMA)
Did u all see that Carroll from USC was originially an option. U would think Snyder would've learned something from the Spurrier era.

Yeah, I think you're right. I believe that was similar to the setup Fassel had for Sean Peyton when he was O-coordinator with the Giants.
The theory of Steve Mariucci seems more and more plausible though. I just think that if the job belonged to Fassel, he would have had it by now.
