Ron Meeks......Young and intelligent with potential to grow. His future is ahead of him not in the past.

Cowher, no way, IMO not a great head coach. I don't want a guy who has been out of the NFL two years. His best days are in the rear view mirror.

Fassel, no. He had a decent run in NY up to the SB year but after that..not so much. His best days are behind him also.

Schwartz, 2007 D was solid, but in 2004-06 his defense has been in the bottom four teams in the NFL in scoring D.

Spags, not enough on his resume. One decent year as a DC does not a HC make.

Meeks is the best on the list, impressive resume, consistent success. Tony Dungy isn't a bad mentor to have either.

I've said this in at least 5 or 6 other posts, we should take a look at Ron Rivera from San Diego for HC or DC under Meeks (if they can work together). Blanche is very solid, but not a young man. Meeks, Rivera and Zorn would be a pretty solid top of the coaching staff for as long as Snyder can afford to pay them....and we all know that's not an issue.

What happens if Rex Ryan is hired as the HC? I like him, but worry about his weight, he has to take better care of himself or the stress of coaching could kill him at a young age.

Nice post Slingin. I can definitely see the case for Meeks, including his ties to the Redskins.

Hands-down Cowher. Fassel is a close second. You have to grab experience whenever the opportunity presents itself. What would be so rotten about lending the keys to the mansion to Cowher for as long as he wants it? We've already had what amounts to a regime change among the coordinators, of course to a greater extent on the offensive front. These do not seem like Cowher's peeps however (Zorn and Blache), and I agree with one of the contributors on this topic who said it may have been Fassel throwing out strong hints as to who he'd be comfortable with that led to the hire/fire/promotion. You've already lost half of the "Gibbs DNA" as it is with GW's firing. I'm more interested in what we do with the personnel. Cut ties with the aging, injury-prone veterans on defense (Griffin, Springs) and draft that stud DE to make us a more fierce blitzing unit. The West Coast Offense will suit many of our current offensive staff, methinks. Randle El may outproduce Santana in receptions and yards next season. Cooley will remain a fantastic endzone threat. We'll see a new and invigorated Clinton Portis catching short dunks and dinks and spreading defenses out on tosses and sweeps. I am optimistic about our prospects.

I tried but am to tired an lazy to figure out what system each coach uses and if they would be a match with any of the new coordinators. All I've done so far is find Cowher: he started out as a special teams coach then a DC under Schotty. I don't think it's the same defense that Blache uses though.

Fassell: was an OC. not sure if he was WC oriented though.

Spagnoulo: he coached the D in Philly and prior to that worked under Bobby Beathered in San Diego. not sure if he runs the same defense.

Meeks: has been all around the league including Washington back in 2000. not sure if that was when Lewis was around but if so then he might run a similar D as to what we already have.

Then I got tired of looking. lol. The other idea is that the coach is only going to be a figure head. Someone to lead the team. Let the coordinators run the show. Then Fassell probubly would not be bad. I can't see Cowher taking this job with these coordinators just like someone else said....does not seem to be his type of people. Although maybe he wants to try something new....a different type of offense. unless I'm wrong and he had the WC in place in Pitt. If the idea was to get younger at the coaches spots also then as you all have mentioned why Blache unless they were having a hard time getting a defensive coordinator and then your best bet is to keep status quo....we were in the top 10.

No way Cowher coaches a team built by Vinny . Dan better hope the new guy wins right out of the gate .If Fassell is the guy ,,, looks like Collins will leave , now we need 2 backup qb's not to mention a big Wr. I can't see Moss and R. EL holding up all year if they run all those crossing patterns used in the west coast offence .

I would love to have Mike Singletary come in here and take over the job. I've said before that I'm also high on both Caldwell and Meeks. I know Caldwell is done now, so I suppose, if I had to choose from the list...it's Meeks.

Also, supposedly McDaniel is on the list for possible head coaches. I thought he had said that he would stay with NE next season. If that turns out to be false, I wouldn't mind him.
