On another note, I'm happy to see the Dolphins take yet another member of the Cowboy's organization. Safety Keith Davis, who was a team captain, has left the 'Pokes for the 'Phins. Fine by me.

What about Jared Lorenzen? He looks goofy as hell, al 285 pounds of him behind center, but he is a #2 guy, or has been. Tim Hasselbeck I thought was pretty good here and he was still behind Lorenzen. Maybe not here, but I would love to see him starting somewhere. It would be very interesting to see how he plays.

Don Banks, of Sports Illustrated, reports Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell may not be ready to takeover as the starting quarterback permanently, yet. There are rumors that Russell is close to 300 pounds.

Russell does not weigh 300 pounds and has been a regular at team headquarters for workouts since season's end, two team officials told the San Francisco Chronicle.

One front-office employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, dismissed Internet reports of an out-of-shape quarterback as "ridiculous."

The employee said: "JaMarcus is nowhere near that. He's been here. He's been working out. He's in great shape. That's something everyone's going to see at our first minicamp" in early May.

Hackett will visit the Panthers on Friday, according to The Charlotte Observer.

In a 2007 season hampered by injuries, Hackett caught 32 passes for 384 yards and three touchdowns. At 26, Hackett could be the No. 2 receiver the Panthers need to complement Steve Smith.

The newspaper also reported Hackett will visit the Redskins and Buccaneers.

Robertson is due a $3 million roster bonus June 1, and would count more than $11 million against the Jets salary cap in 2008. Terms of the potential deal are not known, but they could involve Broncos CB Domonique Foxworth.

The Associated Press reports former Detroit Lions DL Robert Porcher will be sentenced on a charge that he assaulted his ex-wife. Porcher was arrested on the assault and battery charge in December of 2007. His charge is punishable by up to 93 days in jail and a $500 fine. He pleaded no contest to the charge Wednesday, March 12, and his sentencing is set for Thursday, April 3.
