Hackett agrees to offer -- from Carolina

Free agent wide receiver D.J. Hackett won't be joining the Redskins. Hackett, who held a contract offer from the Redskins, reportedly agreed to a two-year, $3.5-million contract with the Carolina Panthers.
Washington's offer wasn't close to what Hackett received from the Panthers, a league source said, and now the Redskins are waiting for wide receiver Reche Caldwell to decide on their offer to him. Caldwell still is considering his options, agent Tony Fleming said.

i thought we'd offer him more than 1mill per... i would have at least given 2 year 4mill, so they might have been a little too cheap. oh well.

ESPN - Panthers agree to two-year deal with WR Hackett - NFL (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3298035)

Hackett spent last week visiting Washington -- he had a minimum salary offer from the Redskins -- Tampa Bay and Carolina, where he met with coach John Fox and general manager Marty Hurney and talked on the phone with Smith.

Wow, thats horrible. A veteran minimum offer is pathetic and right now it looks like Synder is caught in a pendgilum effect. At one point hes at the sign-sign-sign side and now hes at the extremly cheap Bill Bidwell side.

I mean I like the not overpaying everyone approach but come on Veteran Minimum? I suggested a 2 year $4 million offer which ironically was close to what he got from the panthers.
