GTripp0012 07-07-2009, 02:41 PM clip 3.the ball was on the 48 yard line the slot wr ran straight down the field the safety back pedaled to his 27 as the wr was around the 37 =10 yard cushion.look for your self its 1:17 into the video. at the beginning of the play the slot wr is lined up on the 50 yd line as the safety is on the 34 yd line. the OLB drops back and then follows Cooley to the inside leaving the slot locked up with the safety. AGAIN this is the NFL you wont have wide open WR's on each play, you have to hit the windows as they open.A ten yard cushion is meaningless when he's 20 yards down the field.
If he's even five yards behind the safety, then he's "wide" open by NFL standards. Having a safety standing right over him at the first down marker does not give any possible way to complete a pass, unless it's an option route which this very clearly was not.
Also, this wasn't even a read play. At all. Campbell's job on the play was just to throw Moss the ball. Using this clip against as an argument against a QB is a fundamental misuderstanding of NFL offense, and is a waste of my time.
You should know this already, because it's common sense, but the fact that you do not shows me why you thought Wilcots made a good argument in the first place.
JLW428 07-07-2009, 02:44 PM Ok your first point is the only decent one, the others just killed your chances of me and you arguing/debating, cause I just realized I'm talkin' to an idiot, but since I love debating...who gives a flying F if you went to the green turtle and no one talked to colt, you know how many current or former NFL players you see a year and don't realize who they are?????and if you think I'm the biggest hater on JC you haven't not been to enough sports bars in the area, and yes I was on the Campbell bandwagon for a while, but I thought he would change/get better but that hasn't happened
And if you think our oline is bad how come big ben can play a whole season with their oline which allowed the most sAcks in the league and he wins a super bowl (ya I know they had the best defense, but ours wasn't to far off and we had a much better RB then theirs)
Settle down first of all. Second, I would hesitate on calling people idiots with grammar like that.
My only point was that I think it is a little rash to be asking for Campbell to get hurt in order see our third string QB come in. Especially when the chances of him doing well are very slim.
As for Pittsburgh, yeah, Ben is a better QB than Campbell. What else do you want me to say about that situation? Im not really sure of the point you're trying to make - they mesh better as a whole than Washington does.
Finally, you're a dick.

It means you throw the ball to the wr and let him have a chance at makin a play.
the first down was 17 yds away. big cushion

When a play is called by the coach, you call the play in the huddle, and then you go execute it, even if it's not guaranteed to work.
This is elementary stuff, dude.
53Fan 07-07-2009, 02:55 PM So our 6th ranked scoring defense isnt good enough? funny how teams 1-5 in scoring defense ALL MADE THE PLAYOFFS! Last i checked it was the defenses primary job to stop the other team from scoring.. not to have to score 2 tds a game on int and fumble returns. If we are at that point where they have to do that each week for us to win.WE DONT DESERVE TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS IMO
And enough of ppl blaming the O-line for JC's woes, other than the Steeler game, which they did play terrible in that game they did a good job keeping JC upright.
There wasn't a very big difference in the o-line's play outside the Pittsburgh game, which skews the statistics and apparently minds
In the last 8 games JC was sacked 22 times if i remember right, and thats counting the 7 sack Steeler game. so thats 15 in the last 7 games. the first 8 games he was sacked 16 times. Not a big difference.
Apparently not. The Steelers had the 20th ranked scoring offense. That's right.... 20th. Not very good huh? The difference is their defense allowed almost 5 points a game less than the Redskins. We lost 3 games by less than 5 points. Those 3 losses turned into wins would have put us at 11-5 and in the playoffs. Our 4 highest draft picks were used on defense. Why? Can you answer that? Apparently the thought is this "6th ranked" defense isn't good enough. Your posts are sounding more like :blah: all the time. Try seeing the big picture if you can.

You ever hear of the term 'AUDIBLE' ? Its done all the time by the good QB's. you go to the line,if you see something you dont like you change the play.OR you call a Timeout and re-evaluate the situation. And dont say he cant do these things, if a 3rd stringer can change plays at the line--Colt vs Jets in preseason-- im sure that power is not his alone and is also given to the starter.

Maybe because they used most of our picks the yr before on OFFENSE.
Thomas
Kelly
Davis
Brennan
Rhinehart - i believe he was a 3rd rounder.
And lets not forget the kicker who didnt make the team from GT.
DBUCHANON101 07-07-2009, 03:09 PM And im sure their are 31 other teams who wished they had the Steeler's Defense.

1. lost to the RAMS 19-17
2. Lost to the Cowboys 14-10
3. Lost to the 9ers 27-24
Ill give you the 9er game because they scored in the high 20's but the other 2 hmm.. to say the defense lost those games with the other team scoring under 20 pts is just crazy.
