Skinny Tee 10-13-2009, 10:16 PM I heard a rumor, don't know how legit it is, that Snyder could actually play a big role in a franchise move to LA. Supposedly he owns (through Six Flags) a major plot of land that is considered a prime location for a stadium. I mean I don't think he has any plan to move the Redskins but still I thought it was interesting
Anyway, as someone who has been a fan for, well, a long time, I'm wondering if in previous lean times (the 60s for example), there was the same backlash or was there not because there weren't the same means of communication that there are now.
Along with that rumor, maybe Tom Cruise has a role in securing a franchise for the Los Angeles area. Snyder could have something in the works with his boy Cruise. If Snyder spurns the DC area and fans boycott do you suppose he'd rename the controversial team name and then move the them to LA?

Again, what I wrote was just a rumor that had nothing to do with Snyder moving the team (I'm sure he won't). I was just talking about him allegedly owning (sort of) land that the NFL is interested in for a team in Los Angeles

I wish he'd sell this one and start fresh with a new team in LA but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Maybe he can pawn the Skins off on Limbaugh.

Hard to say, there are still a million times the people that follow the Redskins only by paper and water cooler and wouldn't see any sort of combined group effort unless spread by more common forms of media, somehow if you got the press into it.. the radio shows, papers, etc

To be honest I don't ever remember a time in the history of the Redskins organization when there was the kind of backlash we've begun to see lately. I went to my first Redskin game two yrs. before Sammy Baugh retired, and all through the years after his retirement we experienced some pretty bad teams until the arival of Vince Lombardi, then George Allen. Fans grew disenchanted during those times as well, but nothing like what we're seeing now.
That rumor about a move to LA I had heard as well that's why I mentioned it the wsay I did in mjy post. It was not something however, I had lend much credence too.

Yeah...I'm just tangenting on an imaginary topic. How offended would you be if that took place.
Mayflower style, up and move to LA. I think we'd get a new team to DC but you know they wouldn't give us the name Redskins again due to it's (perceived) derogatory nature.
...I'd have to kill someone if that happened.

It would totally suck if he up and moved the franchise...unless he moved it up here to Connecticut :)
Seriously though, the Washington Redskins belong in DC (or Virginia and Maryland as is the current case)...though I wouldn't kill anyone if it happened
i agree i am encouraged at the backlash (as wierd as that sounds) I have been training my son in the skins way, taken him to games taught him about the history of the team we have a decent amount of skins stuff and he is pretty well up to speed on team history. the sad thing is he is 16 and hasn't been around for any of the good stuff.
if things don't chage it will be a long time till things look up

Two years before Baugh retired...that's awesome!
Anyhow, I mean I know there have been some really bad Redskins teams back in the day so why do you think there is backlash now that wasn't there before?
