Slingin Sammy 33 10-13-2009, 10:44 PM Yeah...I'm just tangenting on an imaginary topic. How offended would you be if that took place.
Mayflower style, up and move to LA. I think we'd get a new team to DC but you know they wouldn't give us the name Redskins again due to it's (perceived) derogatory nature.
...I'd have to kill someone if that happened.I don't think DS would be able to get 22 other owners to approve a move.
Two years before Baugh retired...that's awesome!
Anyhow, I mean I know there have been some really bad Redskins teams back in the day so why do you think there is backlash now that wasn't there before?
that's what I was thinking talk about back in the day.
I know you didn't ask me about why but i think part of it has to do with the money involved. my family sent me and my son to two games for a BD present two years ago. the tickets came from ebay and stub hub but it set us back well over $1,000 for two days of football, that is not including travel and hotel
when you are spending the money we are talking about and the ownership just jacks up prices and won't get around their ego to put a quaility team together, we have a right to be upset.
you only have to hope they will listen
Longtimefan 10-13-2009, 10:56 PM Wow that just gave me chills.
Going to games is okay imho because tickets are sold out allready. But dont buy tickets from Stubhub, buy from craigslist or ebay. Wearing brown bags to games, however; is a great idea. Not buying anything at games INCLUDING BEER is a great idea. Only buying knock off Chinese jerseys on eBay is a good idea. And keep posting disappointment comments on messages boards is smart. I listen to a lot of sports radio and fans finnally seem to be calling up and voicing their concern, usually in Richmond no one calls (including myself), so start calling and ALWAYS include some disappointment in the ownership in addition to whatever you might you have to say.
I think just dont stop. I mean look what complacency has gotten us. Look whats saying danny s. wants whats best, he wants the same as us, has given us. Look what saying well cerrato has made some good draft moves in the later rounds, lets not think about the other things has done. Look what saying hey EVERYONE admits the oline is the biggest weakness lets just ignore drafting there because jersey sales take a huge hit if we do has brought this team.
Go to Kings Dominion and Bush Gardens not Six Flags. Buy knock off Redskins gear online not the genuine products from Redskins Stores, redskins.com or even cheap little nick naks like koozies and decals from grocery stores.
Fuck Authentic. Buy Knock Off, if you really love this team. Not just for the rest of this season but until we are legit contenders or ownership has materially changed. If you think any royalties may end up in dannys pocket dont buy. When in doubt just move on.
If you can Stop Caring thats the biggest way to be heard. Thats the hardest thing to do, but maybe the most meaningful. Start routing for you back up teams.
Support your passion not the ownership!
Many fans are also disenchanted with the idea of having to pay for season tickets so far in advance. We think of all the interest paid on that money before we even take a seat, none of which trickles down to anything benificial to the fans. Going to a game is a very expensive proposition anymore, couple that with how the team is being managed, fans are more and more just getting fed up.
Trample the Elderly 10-13-2009, 11:02 PM Maybe he can pawn the Skins off on Limbaugh.
Limbaugh has forgotten more about football than Snyder or Vinny will ever know. Rush is going to be one of the best owners in the NFL. Put money on it.
BrennanBeliever 10-13-2009, 11:14 PM The simple fact is that technology has stripped the american society of a collective, unifying voice. We are opinionated passive observers each with an individual perspective slightly deafened by the next.
How was so much accomplished during the civil rights movement without the advent of modern technology? A organized, consolidated effort by a minority of like minded revolutionaries advocating positive and proactive change.
If you love this team as I do, lets take a diligent and concerted stand against those in percieved positions of authority and power.
We converge upon Redskins Park in throngs with a universal mantra, like " We love this team but things must change." The media will cover the spectical and it will send the ripple effect across Redskins Nation and a proclamation to Daniel Snyder that we will no longer be subjugated by small minds and deep pockets.
In short we take our team back.
Constructive thoughts and ideas welcome. Please no minutiae.

It'll be hard proving it's our team since we don't possess the keys to Redskins Park.
warpaint 10-13-2009, 11:30 PM D.Snyder is a good owner he just has to many cross-eyed yes men around him.
SMOOTSMACK that LA comment I almost crapped myself cause with every we have seen from trough the years. Talk about getting mindf**k thats what that was.
WE NEED A NEW GM THATS THE STARTING PIONT!

This is the kind of literal, myopic thought process that keeps the social structure intact and progress from coming to fruition.
We are his revenue stream and without us the Snyder franchise machine does not function. So I would say OUR team is appropriate.
Anyone else.

Much may have to do with the expanded fan base. There was not as much interest in the Redskins then from the far away places like it is now. By Washington being a transit city it draws people from around the country who take up residence here for various reasons, but not neccessarily Redskin fans.
For a longtime to many DC residents the Redskins were an afterthought. Mr. Marshall had alienated the African American community to the extent they would not attend games because of his policies regarding African American players. When Marshall sold the team fan interest increased despite the fact the teams were not good. George Allen did more to energize the fanbase here than any other coach in modern times except Joe Gibbs. Under his guidance the team became a winner again and fans showed their support.
I was ten yrs. old when my Father & Uncle took me to my first Redskin game. We would go to Church right across the street from old Griffith Stadium at the "Happy Am I" Church, pastored by Elder "Lightfoot" Soloman Michaux. Season tickets for lower deck seats were $24.00 Beer 10cents a bottle. My Uncle was an Usher at Griffith Stadium when the Homestead Grays played baseball there..........Lot's of memories.
