I know he's not the first choice of the Skins and they're not the first choice of him. But sometimes that doesn't work out that way. It's not that they wouldn't be happy with each other though. As for where he'd play, my guess is that it's a case of "money is no object so let's sign him and we'll figure out where to play him" And I don't necessarily mean to say that negatively.
