And it was no secret that Haynesworth would not participate in voluntary off-season workouts, no matter who's coaching the team. I still wonder about the premature talk about switching to a 34 front.
I think it's a media-driven much-ado-about-nothing with Al. It's completely overblown just to have something negative to report about the Skins in this very successful offseason.
Haynesworth IS working out, very hard, with the personal trainer he used to get to the Pro Bowl in 2007.
He shows up when required to. He'll play and make a huge difference when the season starts.

How is it premature talk? Its been confirmed a thousand times that we're switching to a 3-4 front. The only question is how much 3-4 we'll actually run.

I don't want okung in the first place. I want to make sure the Lions take him, so that either Suh or McCoy will be there at 4. Then we can easily trade down and acquire more picks.

Agreed.
I am tired of hearing the same whiners make shit up about the 'Cancer' that is AH. Bullshit!
The word VOLUNTARY as defined by Webster's - proceeding from from one's own choice or consent. Having power of free choice.
Sheriff Shanahan and the other coaches in the NFL need to shut their mouths about not attending VOLUNTARY events. The coaches should be fined for creating hostile work environment. LOL!
Every offseason the coaches start this same bullshit and whine like little bitches. Then the press and fans overreact.
If the NFL wants to make some of these things an OBLIGATION and part of the job description then DO IT! ...other wise shut the hell up Sheriff Shanahan or whatever you think you are!

Still trying to figure out what makes Al a "locker room cancer." If he's any type of cancer it's probably more of a "coaching staff cancer." You guys act like he's the only one in the league doing what he does. It's not like he's holding out or anything.
He bashes coaches publicly. A new regime comes in and talks team, leadership and everyone being committed and then Al does his own thing. he goes on a radio show and tells the world that he doesn't see himself as a nose tackle. The team cuts him a check for $21 million but he cannot train with the team. One of his defensive teammates asks why he cannot at least join the guys and try the offseason workout. Instead of working out with the team for a week or two and making it look like he is on board he creates a national story and creates a negative perception issue for Shanahan to have to deal with out of the gate.
He isn't the only one in the league doing it, but why can't he at least make it look like he gives a shit about somthing besides himself. Al was one of the first guys to come out and say that things need to be done to prevent the losing but he can't show up for a few weeks to at least make it look like he is on board to prevent another 4-12 season and finish dead effing last in the division for the 3rd year in a row?
One of the consistent criticisms of the last two coaching staffs was that the inmates were running the asylum and he couldn't care less.
I love what he brings as a player but he is obviously a nightmare to deal with. His coaches want him there, his teammates want him there but he just doesn't care.

You know what's ironic about him bashing Blache last year is that Blache was the guy who probably more than anyone pushed for the Skins to sign AH

What's wrong with him saying he doesn't think that he'd be best used at nose tackle, but he'd play where they put him?
Like I've said a million times, dude didn't know what the offseason program would be, probably had it already planned and maybe paid for well in advance of all of this.
AH didn't create the story, this shouldn't even be a damn story. If he feels that he can improve more doing it the way he has before, great. Unless you're there and able to professionally evaluate him and determine that he'd be better at the park then what's the issue? Show up for a couple of weeks.. he probably already has his trainer booked, you don't just sign a guy up for that the day before then tell him wait 2 weeks.
Maybe he gives a shit about himself because he realizes that he can improve himself. Yeah it'd be great to have him there but face it, he's not. That doesn't make him a horrible guy.
