Not really a completely fair comparison since the Colts have had that same system since Manning came into the league. And even then they've certainly had their share of struggles this year.

If McNabb was still on Philly I don't think he would be putting up the numbers that Vick is. Vick actually throws a better ball and is more accurate.

Would they still be winning though? I think so.

I'm not disgusted but I'm concerned.
I never thought that he would play this poorly.
Imo he turns down far too many move the chain type passes to force the ball into tighter coverage or just to chuck it deep.
He's boom or bust on a team who's solve chance for offensive success hinges on efficiency.
I keep waiting for McNabb to snap out of it and I'm still waiting for Kyle to run the ball more and use or personnel better and create mis-matches that make the McNabb's read more well defined.

I believe that right now McNabb is indeed holding the offense back.
The question is back from what? League average or better?

But if not McNabb then who?

Absolutely disgusted? Not at all. Part of what McNabb brings is the intangible leadership that's necessary particularly following such a disastrous year and the necessary changes taking place this year, and at least next year. Did we overtrade (if that's a word) for leadership? Yeah probably. On the field, he has made some big plays that few, if any QBs, on our roster the past couple of years (this year included) could have made. And several of his interceptions have not been his fault...but he doesn't have Joey Galloway to blame anymore.

At the same time, he's made some real head-scratching decisions. Particularly for a proven 11 year veteran such as himself.

Overall, I'm not too concerned with McNabb, and most certainly not absolutely disgusted. But I am concerned that there's currently no true future at QB.

If it's getting harder for us fans to watch the Skins, imagine how hard it is to go out and play for them. McNabb is playing on the Skins. What do you want him to do to stand out? The Oline sucks so he's feeling unbelievable pressure. When he does have a little time in the backfield, his receivers are not open. The play calling is conservative at best. No RB to dump it off to. No play action, no screens, nothing to help him out.

Can't judge DM this season.

The most well defined characteristics associated with Donovan's game that has been so upsetting for fans [and I'm sure coaches alike] has little to do with the personnel he's surrounded by or the play-calling. It has more to do with decision making in pressure situations, the propensity for throwing the untimely interception, as well as throwing high, behind, in front of.... and passes into the ground, often to open receivers. These are individual flaws in his game that have plagued his entire career, and in more instances than one have attributed to his lack of success in big games.

I'll tell you right now, If DM plays lights out for an entire season (next season), if we get in the playoffs he's done. Thats a fact. He has never been able to play up to his potential in a big game. Ever! This is my only concern with DM.

With that said, surround him with some real talent and he will bring us to the playoffs.

Someone mentioned Mike Vick, Thats a unfair comparison since Vick is probably in top 3 for NFL MVP this season. Keep in mind, when Vick has no play, he runs. DM can't really do that anymore. So his options are more limited than Vick's. Not to mention his (Vicks) WR's are fast and open most of the time.

I agree with your post 100%. He's made some awful decisions. I don't think he was worth a 2nd and a 4th, but I guess it was very important to Shanny to have a proven leader at QB while he implements his systems and his coaching style. And that's fine. But anyone who is still expecting McNabb to have some sort of Pro-bowl campaign while in burgundy and gold is smoking something.

I don't think he'll ever be anything better than average for us. And as to your point in bold, we need to get a young stud QB in here asap so he can sit a season or two behind McNabb before taking the reigns of this franchise.

I agree so if that's the case then you gotta wonder why they gave up the draft picks. Could've just kept JC, brought in Grossmam to compete and kept the picks. We'd probably have one less win.

I do think they would have a winning record, but I dont think he'd be playing at the level Vick is right now. Vick really was a significant upgrade to McNabb in may ways....

I'm guessing the guy who started this thread is not even a skins fan and just trying to stir up the pot. I could be wrong just a feeling I have.
