He's missing snaps, so whatever we call it injured or hurt he's missing time because of it. Sounds like it's just precautionary of course.

Good for him. Now he needs to be ready to play as soon as we bench Fitzpatrick or he gets injured if it comes to that.

I know Heinicke is a journeyman and the TB game was only one game but I'm really curious to see how well he plays after a full offseason with the team. I watched the TB game a couple of times and it seems like Heinicke had several good anticipation throws although he had a few lucky throws/runs so I'm not 100% sure if it's just a fluke.

I'm not sure 8 total games in 3 years qualifies someone as a journeyman but I hope he keeps improving and stays healthy.

Hurt already, some guys just have a knack for this

@JPFinlay
Rivera says Heinicke caught an elbow during an offensive install, had to get stitches. "He looks like a boxer right now"

Dude has absolutely struggled with the most important ability - availability - since he's been in the league.

Oh come'on, catching an elbow in the face and having stitches is somewhat being injury prone now ?
I get it with things like shoulder or hamstring injuries... or even recurring concussions... But this is just physics, any elbow wins against any cheek...

In an isolated box, yeah, this is a nothingburger. But with some guys, even if it's thru no fault of their own, it's always something. I think this was the point. This is not a very common thing you hear about. But yet, it's completely unsurprising it happened to Heinicke.

He was Cam Newton's backup, when Cam could actually play, so he wasn't coming in to take that job anyways.

This is his first REAL opportunity for playing time.

Exactly my point, some guys just seem to always be dinged up somehow.

Not saying this latest incident means anything in the long run, but fair or not if he can't manage to stay on the field for whatever reason, he won't be around for long.

Exactly. And his window of “availability “ is extremely small. He maybe injury prone. He may not be. Simply not enough of a sample size yet to make that call. And if Fitz balls out and stays healthy himself we might not know even this year whether or not he is. I read that he really hit the weight room in the off-season so who knows?

Yeah, let's hope Fitz balls out, because Heinicke has started three NFL games and was injured in all of them. Add to that his two other (known) injuries that either occurred off the field or in OTAs, and yeah I would consider him injury prone.
