skinsfaninok 11-02-2021, 09:07 PM Great post 69, Agree with The draft.. I Don't give a shit if you have the 3rd pick and all the experts say no QB... You take QB! Chief X_Phackter 11-03-2021, 09:30 AM I'm done with this experiment. Time to pull the plug. Ron Rivera leaves door open for potential quarterback change (https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/football-team/ron-rivera-leaves-door-open-quarterback-change-during-bye-week) https://riggosrag.com/2021/11/02/washington-football-team-stats-prove-kyle-allen-start-quarterback/ mooby 11-03-2021, 09:37 AM I don't think you are limited to one of those options. You could trade for a guy like Trubisky and still target a QB (and you should) top 5 or somewhere else in the draft. +1 I don't care where the qb is picked - as long as Ron & co are convinced he's the best guy for us. Trading for Mitch just gives us another short term option while we look for the long term one. Ofc this is all a moot point since now we can't trade for Mitch until the offseason. That's the reality though - we are gonna be looking at other team retreads until we find our next long-term plan in the draft. GridIron26 11-03-2021, 09:40 AM I believe he signed 1 year deal with Bills, so we can go after him in the free agency when it starts if we want him. At this point, we need to try everything we can do to find our QB like someone just explained earlier - free agency, drafts, and undrafted QB. Schneed10 11-03-2021, 09:47 AM I wouldn't trade for any QB's right now. We are not going anywhere so play it out w/ what you have. Why would Ron trade for a QB now halfway through the season when you are 2-6 soon to be 2-7? He has no idea what he is doing. When the season is over you need to move on from either Allen or TH. Do not bring back both. Whomever you bring back they're 3rd string. Then you release Fitz cause he is just too old. Then you sign a Tribisky Mariota type since perhaps they will be free to sign w/ anyone. I do not know their contract status. Then you obviously draft a QB in the first round, hopefully Pickett or Corral. Then you sign a guy in the later rounds as a project. So yes I would go into the offseason w/ 4 guys. 2 competing to be the starter, the 1st round rookie and the vet. I would have the later round rookie and Allen or TH compete as the 3rd. The position has been ignored and poorly managed for too long. That includes Ron and his staff. I have always said you keep 3 and you draft one almost every year. It ain't that hard. You never know when you end up drafting a mid rounder like Cousins, Dak or Mark Rypien. Even a Jay Schroeder cause he was traded for Jim Lachey. Remember Stan Humphries? He ended up being a SB QB for the Chargers but I don't remember what we got for him. Trent Green? He should have been our starter for a long time and I'm not sure he was even drafted. Great post. Keep chopping at the QB tree every year until an apple falls out. MTK 11-04-2021, 08:55 AM QB is obviously a super high priority but the spray and pray approach isn't ideal. Target a guy you think can be the guy here for the next 10 years and go get him, whether it's the draft or trade or whatever. This idea of loading up on QB's and letting them "compete" doesn't usually work out very well. Practice time is limited as it is. You need to focus in on someone. But I think it's got to be a case of when the 2022 draft rolls around (besides prying AR away from GB I can't see any vet that's likely available/willing that's worth pursuing in FA or trade), we need to decide if QB is #1 priority over all else. If so, then trade down to where we can safely pick up the best QB available and stock up picks as much as we can for 2023. Else, go BPA with EVERY pick, and if that happens to be a QB so be it. Anything but reach for a QB again like DH. skinsfaninok 11-04-2021, 01:02 PM QB is obviously a super high priority but the spray and pray approach isn't ideal. Yeah I say take Matt Corral in the top 7 or 10 whatever we will be and develop him the right way. Chief X_Phackter 11-04-2021, 01:16 PM I would target the best Veteran QB I can get my hands on for ST's system via free agency as soon as the clock turns to 4pm EST on March 16th, then draft the best QB I can get my hands on for ST's system. Overpay for both if you have to... skinsfaninok 11-04-2021, 01:38 PM "I wouldn't even be mildly surprised if Mitch [Trubisky]... is part of the plans for next year" @JPFinlayNBCS on @WFTPod Seems like interest in Trubisky is legit; Washington just didn't pull the trigger this year before the deadline |
