I like Duckett, but don't like this deal. Last time I checked Betts was doing a pretty good job and we didn't need alot of help on goal line situations if I remember right. To give up a 3rd rounder for a potential 3rd string rb? A couple years ago we picked up some guy named...Cooley in the 3rd, right?

Let's also remember that Betts is on the last year of his deal. It's better to get a back that's probably better than he is, rather than worrying about signing him next year OR finding a rookie RB in the draft.

I go away for two hours to do the work thingy, and 4 new pages and a poll are added to this TJD thread! Now, I'll never get any work done!

Hopefully we can trade away one of the backs we have now for OL or CB help. I'm not sure about this deal yet or how TJ will fit in with our group of guys. Whats his character like , is he a Gibbs guy?

We didn't trade for Duckett for him to be 3rd string.
I fully expect we'll see Betts moved in the coming weeks.
One of our main weaknesses the past two years has been goal line running. Duckett is going to improve that 100%.
I like Betts, and I think the staff really does too. But he's too injury prone to be counted on. He's nursing a sore hammy right now for crying out loud.

In case you guys have missed it Betts has been pretty injury prone his entire career. That's not a good thing when our main guy Portis is also banged up. Does anyone really want Rock Cartwright getting 25 carries per game?
That's a good point, Betts does seem to have problems with assorted injuries contrary to his college career where he was injury free. It could be that there are problems working out an extension for Betts who will be a FA at the end of the season. On the contrary Duckett will also be a FA so I'm really concerned about how this is going to pan out long term. I like the trade but someone has to go, so it's going to be interesting in th coming weeks to see who stays and who goes.

That's the crux of this deal. Betts has to go. It simply doesn't make a whole ton of sense otherwise. There is no need for us to have 3 starting level RBs when we have great needs at OL and CB. Betts gets moved for either a pick or depth.

Something went very wrong if we don't finish higher then Denver!!!
I don't know about that. Denver's expectations are as high as anyone's in the AFC. They were at home for the championship game last year.
It'll be tough to match Denver's record this year -- especially considering the divisions each play in. Denver has Oakland and the Chargers to beat up on, and they stand a good chance to sweep the Chiefs.
If the 1st and 3rd deal is true, and we don't finish better than the Broncos, then this deal was absurd.
We'll be exchanging first round picks, not giving one up completely.

I don't care what happens if we have to give up a 1st and 3rd for TJ then it is a BAD DEAL. There is no reasonable scenario in which a 1st and 3rd is acceptable.
As someone said earlier; a 1st and 3rd gets you a back like D. Davis at least.
Yeeeesh, I agree that a 1 and a 3 is WAAAY too much, who who wants tiny Dom Davis and his balky knee? At least Duckett brings something different to the table...
