Cards fans feel like we got a steal, IF Hightower can hold onto the ball. But Hightower's durability and toughness is huge when we face the rest of the East (started 13 of 16 games last yr)
Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.vallin21 07-31-2011, 07:16 PM Cards fans feel like we got a steal, IF Hightower can hold onto the ball. I don't think we gave up a fifth for him, but like everyone is saying, solid pickup. It's looking more and more like Keiland Williams won't be playing running back this season. Curious to see if this bumps Royster down to the PS, even though he was probably destined to go there anyways. Chico23231 07-31-2011, 07:20 PM RT @john_keim talked 2 @daverazzano re: hightower (was w/cards when they drafted him): "I don't think he's as good as helu. he's a backup." I think you get no arguement hes a back up. Hes not a starter but a guy who will touch the ball 10 times a game and come in a pass block (i.e. Portis entire value last year). His best value will be this: he will get the ball at the goalline and SCORE, we've had a little problem with that for awhile. 12thMan 07-31-2011, 07:20 PM I think we gave up a sixth for him. vallin21 07-31-2011, 07:21 PM Where did you see we gave up a 5th? All I can find is an undisclosed pick. If we gave up a 5th and Holiday, that's too much. Ochocinco went for a 5th, and Santonio Holmes went for a 5th last year. I don't think Hightower's worth a 5th. I heard either a 5th or 6th based on Hightower's performance and playing time, but I might be wrong. I'm fine with giving away a 5th, because he'll probably start Wk 1. Tim Hightower is a quality no. 2 RB in the NFL. I think that's his peak value, and it also would mean Helu is doing what he is drafted to do. Plus, Hightower stays healthy and plays special teams, the biggest difference between him and Torain. Longtimefan 07-31-2011, 07:25 PM I think we only have 2 players on the the roster 10+ plus experience. Last year we had 7, so we are getting younger. That's a good thing. And possibly seven new starters on defense. I like the Hightower signing btw. He could be a good addition on 3rd down providing he can catch...we know he can block. Dirtbag59 07-31-2011, 07:26 PM Hold up ehhhhhh QhSEi6BtmrI Russellmania980 Chris Russell Just got a text that indicates there might be a hold up in completing the Vonnie Holliday deal to AZ for Hightower. #Redskins 9 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply Lotus 07-31-2011, 07:30 PM Comparing depth at RB to depth at DE. Seemed like, before this trade, we had both. Now it seems like we have just one. Of course, this trade likely signaled that Holliday wasn't going to make the team anyway, so there's that. Hightower can now replace Torain as the fan's crush who probably isn't helping the team that much. If he lays out a couple of NFC East linebackers in pass pro, it will be a trade well spent. For entertainment value at least. I'd rather have kept the 6th rounder or 7th rounder or whatever it ends up being. Yes. I think that Holliday, despite past contributions, was not going to factor much this year. We're riding the Jarvis Jenkins train for good or for ill. So I think that Hightower will contribute more than Holliday would. skinsfaninok 07-31-2011, 07:31 PM He's a tough runner something we really need so I'm happy w the move |
