damn didnt know that about Branch, he would've been a great improvement. I like Elam as well but a little undersized havent sen Lester play. I just love the agression Jefferson plays with, he plays mad almost. I dont believe in history of schools producing players, I feel every guy is different. How many quarterbacks out of Baylor panned out?
I'm not answering that question, not because I don't know the answer, but because of how few games he's played. I want to keep this as FA only.

So Talib goes to NE for a 4th rounder...the likely hood of them re-signing him depends obviously on his play and if he can not get into trouble.
More than likely, I think we can cross him off our FA list now..

I'm glad we didn't give a 4th-rounder for Talib.
He's a ticking time bomb. Wasted talent. When on the field and behaving, he's a great player...but he can't stay out of trouble.
Imagine him and Hall on the field...the fights they'd get in...the suspensions they'd rack up.
He's not the answer. We need someone who can stay on the field and going forwward we need to be very careful with our draft picks. With no 1st-round pick next year, a 4th becomes more valuable to us. Talib is still serving a suspension and we've already taken our chance on a troubled player in Tanard Jackson and lost that roster spot and money. Lets not make that same mistake again, while giving up even more for him.

I'll take Was Welker to move the chains and help that defense stay off the field. Then I would tunnel vision on the defense. Secondary especially and maybe a linebacker for depth with London fletcher tutelage or to start. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks would be nothing but CB and safety. I might even trade down if there is talented depth there and maybe get a 3rd down rush specialist. If we can find 3 gems in the secondary and Wes Welker. Lookout playoffs.

He had about $4.533mil in guaranteed money left coming into 2012. We're paying it all this season so we're not on the hook for any money after 2012 and we can then cut him without a cap hit.
2012 = $4.553mil against cap, still counts $1.1mil in cap space this year if we cut him in 2012, but the remaining $3.4mil would count against us in 2013.
Basically, we're keeping him and paying him this season to minimize the cap hit in the 2013 season that's missing another $18mil from Mara/Goodell.
If we released him now, it would mean we have less to spend next offseason, so we're getting it out of the way now with a slim chance he could get on the field in 2012.
No matter what we do with him, we still have to pay him the remaining $4.553 in guaranteed money...so we're doing it now and just getting this bad contract over with. The right decision. We need as much cap space as we can find next year, so cutting him now would hurt us a lot more than waiting in that plan.

hall and brown create $12M if cut next year? or what's brown's cap figure next year? would that number be higher than $12M?
