Our buddies the Eagles reportedly want Winston as their RT for Chip Kellys scheme.
In everyone's opinions, which would be worse, Winston to Philly or Dallas?

Dallas.
Only teams so far according to PFT to talk to Winston are Houston (makes sense) and Philly. Last year Miami called. Dallas may call. We Better call (again)

PFF's ranking of UFA OT players.

Winston doesn't make sense for us for a couple of reasons:
1) primarily salary, we are not in a position to pay top 5 money to a RT right now.
2) although Polumbus was less than stellar, we succeeded in having a successful attack to all parts of the field.
3) at 30, while not old, he isn't "young" either, and this draft will have RT's to develop.
4) speaking of developing, we have brought in several OL, and MS is big on OL stability. Bringing in a high to overpaid star power player, regardless of his ability, doesn't add to the cohesive group mentality MS creates
5) personally, the whole we gotta get player x, is the leftover mentality from the bad days. If we bring him in at a reasonable deal, great, but that won't happen, because he isn't looking for a reasonable deal. He wants the dollars. No fault on him, just saying that we don't do business that way anymore.
Lotus 03-07-2013, 01:53 PM J. Charles will do fine in Andy's system. He is not a pounder who gets the majority of his yards between the tackles. He is more of a breakaway threat and Reid's system will let him operate in space more. I think - if he remains healthy - Charles is in for a big year next season.
Agreed. I expect J.Charles to have a career year catching the ball as he becomes KC's version of Brian Westbrook.

1) Yes, true, you hope he goes for the championship/good team and not for the money, again.
2) Polumbus, as I've mentioned before, didn't even rank in the top 35 RTs. Think about that one for a second. Winston, ranked 3rd and is a fit with this offense.
3) True
4) I wouldn't say we have stability at RT, at all. You're about 4/5ths correct. MS is not happy with the RT position. This is known throughout other insiders.
5) True, but every once in a while you come across a player that fits almost too pefectly or makes too much sense. Let me kind of flip this question on you. Would you want to draft a guy you have no idea how he'd hold up in the pros, or would you go with the guy who is known by the coaches (Kyle Shanahan) and is known to fit an immediate need and you know what he's going to do against other pros? Its not like we're asking a lineman from another scheme which none of our coaches have no experience with (example Ghosder Cherilus) to come here and ''see what happens''.
Eric Winston supposedly dominated Von Miller last year, and I don't need to get into how great a player Von is.
CRedskinsRule 03-07-2013, 02:51 PM I get that Winston is one of the Best, AH was one of the best, many others were one of the best, but RT is not worth putting a big chunk of cap space towards. My point with Polumbus is not that he should be the guy, but that even a moderately priced FA/rookie combination should do wonders, and it's not worth breaking the bank for a top 5 RT.
With that said, if we cut Hall, and save his money could we have a shot at NA to replace Hall. This is a case where you could cut Hall, save his money and with a viable contract pay less money for a better CB, assuming we use him more to his talents.
theJBexperience 03-07-2013, 08:11 PM It looks like one of our Free Agent targets could be staying put:
Buffalo Bills negotiating to re-sign Leodis McKelvin, according to agent - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9028529/buffalo-bills-negotiating-re-sign-leodis-mckelvin-according-agent)
Mahons21 03-08-2013, 10:05 AM Reading that Eric Winston can be signed as early as this evening, because he was cut.
What are people's opinion on him?
-He's obviously a fit for the scheme and can play at a high level, but does he still have the desire?
-I believe he's 30 now, so that comes into play too.
-What are the teams feelings on Tom straight outta Compton and Polumbus? Polumbus was descent in run support, but god awful in pass-pro, is that something that can be improved upon this offseason, or is he just too slow?
Personally I think I would steer clear, and just draft another T in the mid rounds to push the current RTs.

Winston is legit, Compton is coming along but probably not a starter, Polumbus needs to go now. Winston is gonna be a good value starter
