JoeRedskin 02-15-2013, 01:43 PM Well, maybe/maybe not. The guy breaking the news about Young being cut and out of football is Robert Parker - the same guy who called RGIII a "cornball brother". He is not exactly a bastion of reliable reporting. Parker is now writing for a website called The Shadow League, and he reported there that Young would be cut and may never play football again. Parker isn’t known for breaking news, but he does live and work in Detroit, so he may have a connection with Young, who has played for the Lions for two years. Rams won’t comment on report Titus Young will be cut | ProFootballTalk (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/15/rams-wont-comment-on-report-titus-young-will-be-cut/related/) Rams are refusing to comment so I would just wait and see on this one. But, yes, one way or another I burger flipping in Mr. Young's future ... and I bet he better than Megatron at it. CultBrennan59 02-15-2013, 04:39 PM Titus has officially been cut. When asked by the media Jeff fisher said that Titus is a hell of a player that they didn't need. BS lol calia 02-15-2013, 04:49 PM Charles Woodson is getting up there in years, but his leadership is undeniable and he's spent recent time in the safety spot where we are pretty desperate. I suspect that the team passes if there's anyone else that is reasonably within its sights either as a draft or a free agent prospect. I admit that a CB tandem of Crawford and Wilson and a safety tandem of Woodson and Merriweather (assuming D. Hall is released for cap reasons) is intriguing. But I don't see this front office doing that -- we seem pretty focused on youth at the moment. JPPT1974 02-15-2013, 06:00 PM Woodson got cut today as well as Freeney from the Colts. Both players are getting up in years and how much the team would have to pay them since their age is an issue and factor. But they still have a couple of years left in them the way that they are still playing well. JoeRedskin 02-15-2013, 07:23 PM For a reasonable price, I would have no problem with Woodson. On the other hand, I just don't see how Freeney fits in. He seems to me to be a straight up 4-3 DE. He was a talented guy in his day, but just not someone who would be much of a help to us. calia 02-15-2013, 07:48 PM For a reasonable price, I would have no problem with Woodson. That sounds right to me. And my guess is that Woodson has more left in the tank too. KI Skins Fan 02-16-2013, 08:58 AM First off, I don't follow the rest of the league enough to have an idea of how much Woodson has left. Nevertheless, I looked at some 2012 Woodson highlights (for what it's worth) and in those highlights he was making plays all over the place, as usual. I'm thinking he may have 1-2 years left in the tank. Remember when the Redskins were looking at using DeAngelo Hall closer to the LOS in a "Charles Woodson like role"? What about getting Charles Woodson himself for that role? He's certainly a perfect fit for some of the things the Skins want to do in the secondary. If he were to struggle some on the outside, I suspect that he could still dominate TE's and slot receivers. I don't know but I have the feeling that Woodson could do a lot for us. He has been a great player and a big time playmaker in this league. The key to getting him would probably be to convince him that we can win it all in a year or two. Mechanix544 02-16-2013, 12:45 PM For a reasonable price, I would have no problem with Woodson. On the other hand, I just don't see how Freeney fits in. He seems to me to be a straight up 4-3 DE. He was a talented guy in his day, but just not someone who would be much of a help to us. Here's the thing. Woodson didnt sign because GB wanted to rework his contract and bring him back at a lower number. I think he believes he will get paid on the open market, and bet he will. I just hope it isnt us. We can find a starter in this years draft for safety and or CB. This is a deep defensive draft. Freeney does not fit at all. I would rather have Brace than freeney. Freeney is a straight up 43 DE. If we ran a 43, sure. But we don't. |
