mbedner3420 02-20-2013, 11:11 AM I'd let these guys walk: Cooley, T. Jackson, Kehl, M. Williams, Banks, Black, Golston, Lichtensteiger.
Where's smootsmack? I wonder if he has any insider information on what's going on this free agency with regards to our players and those on other teams...
CultBrennan59 02-20-2013, 11:13 AM Heres a name that is reportedly on our radar; CB Greg Toler of the AZ Cardinals. He's a local kid.

Bubba305-ST21- 02-20-2013, 11:04 PM Where do you get low risk from? They guy has had off the field issues since college. He obviously can't do what he's supposed to. Last type of person we need on the team and in the locker room.
Let Dallas sign him. Dez needs someone else to hang out with on the weekends and have a family slap-fest.
I get low risk from paying him very low to one year, and if he acts up snip goodbye= low risk. possible speed back thats a threat to added to this O = high reward. Thats my math on that.
T.O.Killa 02-20-2013, 11:15 PM I have a buddy who swears he get inside info, and he says Mike Mitchell, Keenan lewis, Greg Toler and Chris Clemons are guys the Redskins are targeting for thier secondary. He says they liken Mitchell to Ryan Clark, but their top target would be Clemons. He has been right before, but he could just be guessing like the rest of us.
Bubba305-ST21- 02-20-2013, 11:19 PM out of those i like clemons the best, would be a good pickup plus a draftee hopefully DJ swearinger

I've heard Toler mentioned a couple of times. But Mike Mitchell? Really? He sucks. He got overdrafted a few years ago. I remember Kiper saying he didn't have Mike Mitchell even being drafted and raiders picked him in the 2nd.
Chris Clemons I like. Keenan Lewis is solid.
Honestly I think a good FA for us would be getting James Casey TE/FB Houston; Greg Toler CB Arizona; and Corey Lynch S San Diego. If we get Clemons, great, but A) I don't think he'll come cheap cause he starts and is rated highly by PFF B) Corey Lynch can do more C) Corey Lynch is cheaper
Mahons21 02-21-2013, 08:38 PM Cult, why do you like Lynch? I've seen his name mentioned a lot between fans, and personally don't understand it. Don't mean to pick on you, just curious how this all has come about.
His career high INTs for a season is 2, and he's done that once. I don't see how that meshes with the aggressive scheme we run, predicated on generating turnovers.
Just because someone is young and an upward trend does not mean they're a good FA acquisition in my opinion. That's what I see in Lynch, a guy who's gone from bad to average over his career (he was at one point relegated to PS after playing in live action with the Bengals IIRC), who's young.
I would personally prefer to use that money on either re-signing or own guys, or investing it into a FA CB. Give me a Toler and ensure that OMG and 5-0 are signed.
EDIT: Not to mention this draft is extremely deep at the safety position in the middle rounds, and we very well could draft a S in the 2nd or 3rd round, that will play better their first year than Lynch could this year.

When he played this year for the chargers as their third safety and starter once Bigby went out, he was doing very well. He's young, he has good hands, he is much more instinctive and faster than Reed. HTTR24/7 who has good league sources (according to SS and Matty) has been scouting FA DBs and said that Lynch is great for us. I trust that based on the breakdown he did of lynch. I suggest you head over to his site and check it out.

CB59, I really like the way you think. I may become your disciple.
Like you, I believe that the Skins need to build primarily through the draft but that doesn't mean overlooking good values in FA. I can foresee significant roles on the Skins for the players you mentioned.
I think that Skins management will not want to go into next season without adding experienced players at CB and at least one safety position. We are just too thin in the secondary not to do so. Doing that and adding a CB and a safety in the draft should provide the depth we need in the secondary.
