Assuming he sobers up and wants to get back into the league Scot McCloughan would be an ideal candidate to get this organization back on track if this latest restructure doesn't pan out. Then again working for Snyder might not be the best scenario for someone fresh off a 12 step program.

McCloughan worked for the 49ers and Seahawks (The two most talented teams in the league) and was involved in drafting guys like Vernon Davis, Patrick Willis, Joe Staley, Richard Sherman, and Russell Wilson.

Snyder should back up the Brinks truck and do whatever they can to bring him here and help fix this mess. This is exactly what needs to be done. Whether or not he wants to come here is another story.

I couldn't confirm it before, but Ian Rapaport is reporting that the Redskins did indeed reach out to former 49ers GM Scott Mcloughlan. Don't know what the result was

Now that would be outstanding! Between him and Smith, and then Allen handling the money side of things, I think the franchise can be turned around.

Heres another link.

For the Redskins, Scot McCloughan is a risk worth taking (http://was.247sports.com/Bolt/For-the-Redskins-Scot-McCloughan-is-a-risk-worth-taking-34465504)

It's a pipe dream to think that Bruce will be removed from personnel matters.

Everyone here knows that Bruce sucks at personnel. But Bruce himself seems to have no idea. And he is in charge. So, he can empower advisers, but in the end it will be his show because he doesn't know better.

Thinking that Bruce will remove himself from personnel matters is unrealistic.

McCloughan can pick his job, he won't come here IMO. He doesn't want to mess with our weird FO setup.

Thats the feeling I got originally.

But there is this Redskins contact McCloughan for top executive role - NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000454486/article/redskins-contact-mccloughan-for-top-executive-role)

"Rapoport tweeted that McCloughan has interest in the Redskins job after also speaking with the Oakland Raiders."

The fact he has interest is great. Doesnt seem like he should blow us off, and at least wants to listen, which is awesome considering the height of the flames over the dumpster, especially after a Bruce Allen train wreck of a press conference last week.

I won't get excited or even optimistic unless something solid, like an offer to McCloughan, happens. If he has his pick of jobs, especially between us and the Raiders, even with as bad as things are, our overall situation is more stable than Oakland. We don't have stadium concerns, we're in OK shape cap wise and have some flexibility with cuttable veterans that won't impact our future cap too badly.

I'd prefer him over AJ Smith and definitely over Allen. Glad that we are looking outside of the 'family' to get this mess fixed. Maybe Snyder finally is realizing that his way is a failure.

Bruce doesn't need to remove himself from personnel matters for it to happen. Snyder could do it. Bruce might not like it but I doubt that he would quit over it.
