I am starting to have a hard time believing that we will make that move -- especially if the rumors that we are going to keep haslett are true.

This is a huge offseason coming up. Smith has been known to be a very competent general manager for the Chargers. He's responsible for putting all that talent on the field that enabled San Diego to compete under Marty and Norv. After the failings and missteps of Bruce Allen he would be wise to step down from that GM post and promote Smith.

I didn't even know he was already part of the franchise?

A.J. Smith was hired as a senior executive after the 2011 season.

Wonder if in talks about the team, between Smith, Snyder, and Allen, since 2011, maybe Smith was proven right about some things?

There's no telling how much input Smith had if at all in the players that the Redskins drafted, scouted, or signed in free agency. I would think Scott Campbell and Morocco Brown had more say in the scouting and drafting of players than Smith had. Of course up until last December Mike Shanahan had full control of the Redskins roster.

AJ Smith is not the answer. I don't have issues with his talent evaluating, but I don't like him as our GM. We need to go out and get that Eric DeCosta kind of guy. A guy who's waiting in the wings to prove himself. AJ's ego will prevent him from being the GM we should have, as noted with his dealings with his own players in San Diego.
Mind you, this is the same mother fucker that fired Marty after a 14-2 season.

I've heard something about that. I don't know exactly what happened in SD.

I think this would be a step in the right direction. Perhaps there would be better options than Smith, but at least he's had previous success as a GM. I don't know what Allen's exact role was with Shanahan, but I think those years coupled with this year is more than enough evidence that he doesn't have it. Promote Smith, and just as importantly, let him do his job.
