Fiversons 12-25-2014, 07:45 PM AJ Smith is not the answer. I don't have issues with his talent evaluating, but I don't like him as our GM. We need to go out and get that Eric DeCosta kind of guy. A guy who's waiting in the wings to prove himself. AJ's ego will prevent him from being the GM we should have, as noted with his dealings with his own players in San Diego.
Mind you, this is the same mother fucker that fired Marty after a 14-2 season.
The problem with your logic is you are under the assumption Snyder will hire a real GM, he isn't... So the question is... Who would you rather gave as the GM... Smith or Allen? Give me Smith every day, and twice on Sundays...

AJ Smith didn't fire Marty, but Marty was fired b/c he and Smith couldn't get along. I believe ownership went with Smith.
Dirtbag59 12-25-2014, 10:30 PM I think the absolute scariest thing going forward will be if the Cowboys somehow win the Super Bowl. Not just for the obvious reasons, but rather the real tragedy would be for Snyder to be able to look at Jerry Jones holding a Lombardi trophy and think, 'maybe being hands on isn't exactly a bad thing.'
SmootSmack 12-25-2014, 10:41 PM A.J. Smith was hired as a senior executive after the 2011 season.
2012
Smith has been pretty influential as far as the draft the last two years. He's already on our payroll, I got no issue with giving him more official control. Is send Scott Campbell packing
SFREDSKIN 12-25-2014, 11:01 PM In 1974 he had a tryout as a player for the Redskins

You saying we should send Campbell packing?
I think AJ would be better than we got now, preference would still be bring in a new GM from outside the organization

Is that a good thing? Our 2014 draft class, outside of Breeland, was a bust this year (though I think Grant will be a good WR going forward & Murphy can contribute but isn't special) and 2013 is not looking stellar either. Amerson & Reed didn't step forward and Thomas & Thompson are just seeing the field. 6 of the 15 players picked are no longer on the roster or practice squad.
If he gets full and total control over football ops, then I may be intrigued but if not, it's same old same old. I agree on Campbell as well as the scouting staff. Hopefully if he's hired, he can influence Snyder to give the scouting department some legitimacy in terms of investment and respect.

To Reed's credit (or discredit) he's spent a lot of time injured.

Yes. I also think it's probably too early to judge his impact quite yet

Some of you wanted Breeland cut cause he was smoking some weed in camp. Lol. He's not only been one of the best players on defense, but is obviously a future star in the making. What I like most about him is he's constantly in that film room grinding away trying to get better. The front office doesn't get many right but they nailed it with Breeland.
