Kerrigan reminds me of Orakpo in this way. He's never developed any pass rush moves. Just the bull rush.
I think with Smith, he just doesn't have the burst or explosiveness coming off the line. And he also seems to have only one move.
Does Smith even have a sack? I haven't even seen him get pressure off the line once this season. He's been by far the biggest disappointment.
When was the last time we had a winning record at the halfway mark? 2008 I believe. People need some perspective.

Kerrigan and Smith are both above average pass rushers but no where near elite. Would love to have a bonifide stud, but they don't grow on trees. That's why it was nice to see a good amount of blitzes and pressures.
People need to realize that A.J. Green is no worse than the 2nd best receiver in the NFL, no one is shutting him down. Expecting Norman to do so is being unrealistic. He has been good for us. Felt like a Twilight Zone with all those hands to the face penalties though. That was crazy.
Smith has done nothing to prove himself above average. Nothing. He keeps playing like this and he might not even be a starter.

He turned it around last year late, hoping after the bye he starts playing better.
Also, gotta remember, its only his 2nd season.

Wild Card Standings:
1) Green Bay Packers 4-3
2) New York Giants 4-3
Philadelphia Eagles 4-3
Washington Redskins 4-3-1
WE STILL PLAY ALL OF THOSE TEAMS in the second half. We still control our own destiny so simmer down.

Oh of course he is very early on in his career. Nothing to say he will not ever be good. Likewise nothing to say he will ever be good or above average though.
On another note (directed at the board- not you SD ) of course people want Hopkins gone. It was a huge miss. Huge.
I don't think anybody, including myself, who has shouted "fire him" since the miss really believes it would happen. Also don't think anybody really cares that much. He is a kicker. Same position you do not draft high in the NFL or on your fantasy team. No need to keep saying it is crazy to cut him. Everyone realizes it is not a make or break reality for this team.
I will say that a "pressure" miss after being pretty consistent from that range doesn't exactly scream "he has ice water in his veins". Next time he is kicking for the win I will be staring at the inside of my eyelids. Lol.

Right. Said it twice. We are in the playoff conversation in a big way at the halfway point with more than one way in. Division or wildcard. We are 2-1 in the East and play the Boys again.
When we were 0-2 all that you heard from the squirmy fair-weather fans was "we will be lucky to win three games", and "lets talk about the draft". Since than we are 4-1-1 and the wheels are apparently already off. Im stoked for this team to have two weeks of rest and study and than go finish this in a big way.

Word. Note the relative terrific health of the roster. Very little in the way of injury. It bodes well for our 2nd half.

I'm so confident we make the playoffs I'd be willing to bet on it. Numbers don't lie and we are owning our opponents weekly. Eventually the ball goes our way and it will later on.

The offense has some kinks to work out, but, I think, it seems to be improving in fits and starts.
The D still has some run stopping issues, but, at the same time, and on occasion, it does seem capable of making a big stop when needed.
As someone said, we just don't seem capable of putting a complete game together. Hopefully, after the bye, they come back strong.
BTW ... it seems to me KC is getting better each week (sometimes its a "two steps forward, one step back" kind of improvement). Yesterday, I thought he did a good job of recognizing when nothing was there and chucking it away to avoid the sack - much better than he has done so in the past.
