we all saw what happened on the field last season. and we've all seen how little preseason success applies to the regular season.
illdefined when are you going to stop bringing up last season?

And for how long are we supposed to give Coach a "bye" based on those 3 rings?
I don't for one minute think that Gibbs made this choice based on anything close to personal or self-serving reasons. I believe he is not that type of man or coach. However, I do think he is dead wrong with what he's done and this team will pay the price for his decision this season.
The reason Gibbs will be successful is because now he has a healthier Brunell who I think will not turn the ball over like last year. Efficiency has been the main commandment of Gibbs that Ramsey has consistently broken. Interceptions and fumbles have plagued Ramsey and overshadowed anything he did. That is the reason he is being replaced. Secondly, I think the addition of Jansen with two broken thumbs and Dockery stepping without a lot of penalties is a better front line for any decent QB. Ramsey was in every training camp this year so he should understand and be on the same page as Gibbs. I am very observant as a fan and what I have noticed about Ramsey from preseason until last week, is that when Brunell goes onto to the field and returns to the sidelines, Ramsey is right behind him. He acts as though he a Brunell are buddy buddy. Brunell is fighting for his job. There is no love lost. This guy lacks confidence and it shows with his reaction to being benched.

Preseason for Ramsey looked exactly like the regular season. If Ramsey couldn't be efficient with "vanilla playcalling" why should anybody be surprised he was benched in week one?

Possibly because you are not privvy to the information and knowledge that Coach Gibbs and staff have.
So why didn't all of that "information and knowledge" translate to even a semi-respectable record last year?

illdefined, come on how are we going to just forget about last season? Of course, I'm not. All I'm trying to say is that this is no time to just throw the season away because Brunell is our QB now. Last season Brunell looked bad all throughout the preseason (like Ramsey did this year) and of course I wanted Ramsey in. But Ramsey looked horrible in all 4 preseason games. Brunell looked more healthy, and didn't make as many mistakes as Ramsey did. I think Gibbs sees that this team, this year, has a good chance of being at least a wildcard contender if we can eliminate the turnovers. We have a great running back, great o-line, and a potential top 5 defense. All we need is a QB who can manage the game without MISTAKES!
At least wait until we see Brunell play a whole game before we start judging him. I know, I know last year it was painful to watch him. But he was injured.

You're being difficult, right. Ok then, here we go.
You've been in your job for a while, you know the people you work with and the actual tasks that you perform. When you change companies, as sometimes happens, you have a different set of co-workers and a simialr but differing set of tasks. Would you go in and perform at the same level immediately or would it take you a while to get there?
Big corporations have an expected learning curve even for experienced people.
Last year was like that.
How many games have we lost so far this year? None.
How many of your fellow coven members have as many years 'On the broom' as you?

Excuse me - "Coven members on the broom?" And you're one of the forums moderators? An apology is in order, but I'm sure it won't be forthcoming.
It's a sign of something (I have too much class to be more specific) when someone has to stoop to "not so veiled" personal attacks in order to make their point.
I always wondered why there are so few female posters to this forum. Now, I'm beginning to understand why.
