Problem w/ Cowboys giant screen.

Another stupid move I just learned about, done entirely for cash obviously: field-level luxury boxes. The people paying a fortune for these can see the backs of the players on the sidelines...some equipment carts and maybe even a few photographers' backs if they're lucky, but all live action will be blocked from their view. Good job once again, Jerry!

I see that Jerrah has said he refuses to move the scoreboard. I just heard a clip with him saying that the Cowboys "spent a lot of time researching the jumbotrons height," and that "it will be fine." A lot of time?? LOL!! It took the Titans punter about 5 seconds to figure out it is too low.

What a fail.

PFT reported that U2 was paying 2MM to raise the scoreboard before a concert at Cowboys Stadium so their stage can fit underneath and then lower it after the concert.

My first thought after hearing this, why on earth would U2 pay 2MM to do this... it most certainly would be cheaper to use an alternate stage setup than what they would typically use.

My second thought was, how can it possibly cost 2MM to raise and lower the thing? Thats ridiculous.

My third thought was, why isnt there a mechanical lift system in place to raise and lower the screens as needed?

And Finally, why is Jerrah being such a punk about all this? Let U2 pay 1MM to raise the thing, leave it up, and call it a day. Jerry won't have to pay for it, the NFL won't have to pay for it, U2 will save 1MM, and we won't have to worry about NFL games being adversely affected due to a stoopid decision to hang the screens only 90feet above the field.

So how do you plan to evaluate Campbell?

Lest we forget how many post season games did Peyton Manning loose before he finally got a play off win? 3 straight years, one and done. And that is more than Romo, so I guess in your definition Manning is a "choker". And he does have 7 playoff losses.

Same thing happened to another QB, Elway was his name, had lots more playoff losses than Romo.

But you know what they say, "winning cures all ailments". But when Romo and the Cowboys do eventually win in the playoffs, maybe this year, maybe next year, who knows, I am sure you will find something else to complain about. Maybe the part in his hair?You won't find me in the "Romo is a playoff choker" crowd, but Campbell would have likely had a playoff appearance in 2007 had he not been hurt. That's debatable, I guess.

From my perspective, the Cowboys haven't been a good team in Romo's tenure anymore than the Redskins have been for Campbell. Romo's personal performance might have pushed a bad team into the playoffs in 2006, which might be the shining acheivement between their respective careers, but they both made the playoffs with quality teams in 2007, and missed with flawed teams in 2008.

While the TD numbers speak for themselves, it's not completely inconceivable to think that Campbell might be the better quarterback someday. It's just hard to judge off of 2 and a half years a careers worth of accomplishments.

To raise it up for the U2 concert, requires the scoreboard to be disconnected and it will be inoperable at that height. So for Jones, leaving it up at that height is simply not an option on his table.

With a screen that big, i'm sure they could dedicate a portion of each side of it to a digatal, on-screen scoreboard. Personally, i'd love to see the screen get irreprably damaged by consistently getting whacked by punters.

Actually, I do understand the part about raising it making it in operable. Heck, you move your dvd player in the wrong place and all the wiring gets shot and you have to redo it. I imagine the wiring to maintain the HD image is incredibly complex, as there are xzillion different screens within it. I would imagine that they could have put incremental stopping points and pipe the wires to each of those, but I think Jerry really wanted this controversy. I also think it is set so that he has the perfect view of it from his perch, and he doesn't want to give that up by the 5-10 feet he would need to raise it. Certainly not the 25 feet U2 wants it raised.

I think more than stupid, it is just arrogant, but hey that is the Cowboy way.
