My only qualm with this is some of the options you think are better, may not have been better on our squad. You can say they were better, but there is no way to really know. Had he brought in those other options and it not panned out (aka..mcnabb) would you have praised him for it? Probably not.

It is obvious that last year, McNabb was Plan A, Rex was Plan B (back up), and Beck was Plan C (3rd stringer). After a wasted year because of the McNabb mistake, MS decided that he was going to stick with Plans B & C. While a lot of the decisions made over the past two years have been good, it is hard to believe that this is the best Shanahan could come up in two years at the QB position.

I don't see how the playing field for MS is more difficult than what Gibbs walked into after Spurrier. Gibbs made the playoffs in 2 of 4 years. Gibbs' teams rose to the occassion late in the season with 4 & 5 game win streaks to make those playoff runs.

Gibbs' big mistakes during his tenure were relying too much on personnel decisons from Al Saunders (ARE) and Greg Williams (Arch) and that he over-valued Campbell. But Gibbs did a HoF job turning the franchise around from where it was. I'll always wonder what could've been if the ST tragedy hadn't happened.

Good post. I think Shanahan made things more difficult for himself when he took over the team. However, I do agree with SS33 that it wasn't nearly as difficult as it was for Gibbs when he took over for Spurrier.

Well, I do believe if they are top 5 and if someone other than the Colts have the 1st pick we'll make a big push for Luck. What we'll offer I don't knowIf the price isn't completely stupid, getting Luck would be tremendous. I don't see anyway the Colts aren't #1 though.

I've heard they're not interested in Barkley, but I can't see why notI haven't watched him other than the ND game, but I wasn't impressed either. Lots of talent around him, many of his numbers are short throws that the superior USC talent makes YAC on, questionable/bad throws on 3rd & long or downfield.

RG3 isn't expected to come out, but if he does the interest is highHe better come out.

Haven't heard they're interested in Kellen Moore, or in others words, I've heard they are not (again, I don't know why not)Probably size and level of competition issues. Guy makes plays, but at NFL level, not sure.

Don't know about guys like Foles, Lindley and CousinsReading a quick scouting report on Foles, he appears to have issues with progressions and locking in....not a fit here if that's so.

Interest in Tannehill and Harnish

That's all I gotGreat stuff as always.

If the "Signed" is for you congrats, you certainly earned it.

Interior OL got some ballers in there too for the draft. like to see us spend a pick thereAgree. Here's a thought, if Kalil falls to us (and Luck, RG3 are gone) do we take him, plug him in at LT and move TW over to RT? Trade back up into late 1st or wait until 2nd for QB?

I don't see why RG3 would stay at Baylor

I don't see why RG3 would stay at BaylorHe's a different cat. Graduated in 3 yrs. w/Pol Sci degree. Honor roll all semesters, finishing his Masters in comms and looking to attend Law school. Baylor is a respected school in TX for trial lawyers.

Folks are both retired enlisted military (family $$$ doesn't appear to be an issue), RG3 is a religious guy (Baylor is a Christian university) and loyalty is a big deal to him. No huge incentive to come out now vs. next year financially. I can see him staying put, but I sure hope he comes out and we can get him.

its early still, but all indications saying he's top 5 pick. What ive read hes certainly worthy. I think we gotta get a QB with our pick though, Luck, RG3, Jones one of those would make my day.

Some of the senior grades suggest upwards of 10 2nd round-3rd round Guards and Centers available. Id like to see a quality young interior guy added to the line.

That would be an ideal for offense but I don't think we are at the position where we can afford to trade away picks because we need picks to draft CB, WR, and maybe a couple of O-linemen for depth

Newsflash to all you kids bitching about our two shitty QBs:

1) You can't force Free Agents to Washington so stop with the Vince Young(and others) talk.

2) Who's to say Hasslebeck, Bulger, Jackson or any other crappy QB you all manage to name would do any better than Rex or Beck?

3) Speaking of Hasslebeck, why would you sign a 36 year old QB to a 3 year contract worth about 8 mil per season with no rookie in the stable?

Like I've said before, you can't turn shit into sugar so stop acting like Shanny had all these great options at the QB spot. He didn't. Had he brought in any of those guys you all mentioned and they played shitty, you'd be bitching about that too.

Yes we have god awful talent at the QB spot right now, but lets see the pieces we have and are building on. We aren't going to be competitive until about 2013 to be honest. I'm going to chalk up 2012 as a learning curve for whatever rookie QB we bring in.You are missing the point by a lot.

The argument that the Redskins were handcuffed to Rex Grossman and John Beck this season must die. It must die right now. It's an irrational, apologetic argument. Look around. We certainly could have kept three QBs on the active roster.

One of the biggest failures of the 2010 season was that the Redskins didn't go into the year with a long-term development option at QB, and ended up wasting the last three games of the season. At least, once you acquired McNabb, those roster spots seem frivolous. But he's a guy that gets hurt all the time, it certainly would have seemed prudent to bring in a long term option with potential to play if when the season is lost. That's what rebuilding is.

But to enter 2011 with the same quarterback situation minus McNabb isn't rational. It was pure arrogance. You must understand: the downside to the failure of those two quarterbacks was enormous. It means a totally wasted season on offense. But the risk of failure seemed highly likely.

The argument that the Redskins were obligated to already have their long-term franchise QB by now is a strawman. No one is saying the Redskins are worse off long term because they don't have their quarterback right now. They are worse off because the last two seasons would appear to be a total waste of my time and of your time. And so rationally, a new direction would seem to be beneficial for the franchise.

I think your anger is misdirected here. The people that want to hold Shanahan accountable have not run the Redskins into the ground. Mike Shanahan has.
