SirLK26 03-09-2015, 01:44 PM Baluga at a UFA market price for a RT price is fine by me. I just don't think he is worth LT money which is what I think he is seeking.
Given what Parnell got, are you willing to pay $9M/year for Baluga?
When does Williams contract run out? Whatever you pay Baluga, add at least 50% to hold onto Trent.
Hi Vinny.
9 million a year for Bulaga? Cut that number in half and we can talk.
If we the free agency route, Barksdale would be a better option IMO.
Chico23231 03-09-2015, 01:49 PM Keim tweeted out Paea is a different position from Dan Williams...so obviously we still are still pursuing Knighton, Williams and any other potential NT.
Like how the FO focused on D-Line first over any other area. Smart. Aging, injuried, and underproductive group.
Skinzman 03-09-2015, 01:50 PM Would be fine with that, would like to still see us draft Shelton if we only add Paea on the line
Given that we are looking to sign more interior D-line, I would assume our number 5 pick, if not traded down, would be used for a pass rusher. Im sure if McC thinks Shelton is that good, he wouldnt pass him over, but it seems he is setting himself up to take Gregory, Ray, or Beasley with that pick.

That would be perfectly fine with me.
What if we sign Paea and Knighton (as Schneed suggested), then draft a top pass rusher for ROLB? It could happen. That would give us a much improved front 7, IMO. We'd still need an ILB but, other than that, we'd be set up nicely for quite awhile.

Depending on what Paea and Knighton cost, I wouldnt mind that either. Given that Bowen and Cofield are aging and had a lot of injuries the last couple of years, I think it could be a decent upgrade to our defense.

Before the recent spate of signings, Bulaga was seeking between 7-8M/year from G. Bay. After back-up like Parnell just signed for ~6.5M/yr, however, I can't see BB signing for less than 8M/yr and, as there will likely be some type of bidding war for the best young tackle on the market, I fully expect it to go up to $9M/yr.
Packers may have to pay $7 million per year to keep Bulaga - JSOnline (http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/295501311.html)
But, yes, if he will sign with us for less money than he wanted to stay in G.B. with Aaron Rodgers and a winning team ... sure, sign that tackle to a contract.
SirLK26 03-09-2015, 02:53 PM Why do you think Green Bay's letting him walk? They drafted and developed him, and they still don't want to pay 7-9 million or whatever it's going to be. Why should we? Chances are he wouldn't play as well here anyway, on top of already being overpaid.
The Jaguars can have Parnell for 6.5. They're the Jaguars.

I agree on Parnell and I was not advocating signing BB for the money he wants. In fact, I think we shouldn't. We need someone at RT and he is the best option out there, but he is also an expensive option who likely retards the development of Moses. I was simply responding to this:
Baluga would be a great signing, IMO. He's only 25, so he could be penciled into the lineup for 6-7 years.
You may go gray waiting for Moses to develop.
GBay would love to retain Bulaga, just not at LT money and more than they pay their current pro-bowl guard. Also, GBay is hopeful that their recently-drafted-in-the-3rd-round back-up tackle (who was developing while BB was playing) can step into Bulaga's place without too much of a drop-off in the O-line's effectiveness. Throw in BB's injury history and GBay is content to let him walk.
At 7M/year or more, I suggest we follow their lead.
