Who should we go for in Free Agency?

Two good drafts and some smart value shopping in FA could have us in a whole new world by the end of '16 season. Forget spending a bunch of money in FA. Do a good job drafting and save money to sign the good players you drafted and developed.
THAT is exactly what I have in mind.
Not sure if that makes you genius or fool.....

Wouldnt it be nice if just someone outside of Trent Williams developed along the D and Oline?

Time to be honest, we have used picks in the draft along the lines, none have panned outside of Silverback.

Thats bad front office, bad coaching and bad scouting.

Actually no, the Skins haven't used picks on the O line. Chris Samuels, Jon Jansen, and Trent Williams are the only linemen drafted in the first two rounds during the past 15 yrs (at lrast that I can recall). Was has mainly relied in free agency, when they've bothered to do anything for the group.

It is impossible for them to fix the defense in one offseason. They need to replace at least 7 of our starters. The only thing I would do in FA, is sign a few good lockerroom guys if the prices are low.

I dont think anyone is saying to go exclusively with the draft. Successful teams build 90% through the draft and then fill in a hole or two with FAs that can put them over the top. The Skins have so many holes that building through the draft is a must.

Yes, but I'm not saying use FA's to fill a hole or two. I'm saying that FA's seem to be getting younger all the time, so if the Skins could only do a good job of scouting and researching the work ethic and character of young FA's, then they might be able to pick up a few at value prices to supplement each draft. They would be essentially the same as draft picks only better because they have already proven they belong in the NFL.

Actually in the last five years we've drafted 9 people for the offensive line. That's near two complete lines.

The problem is, we suck at drafting. If we leave Long and Moses out of it as too early to call, we took 7 swings and connected only once.

2014
Morgan Moses T 3rd
Spencer Long G 3rd

2012
Josh LeRibeus G 3rd
Adam Gettis G 5th
Tom Compton T 6th

2011
Maurice Hurt G 7th

2010
Trent Williams T 1st
Eric Cook C 7th
Selvish Capers T 7th

We don't have many high picks.

In 5 years we've only had 1 first round and no second rounders?

You can't build a quality line around that.

You can't build a quality line around that.

You also need someone who can develop offensive linemen. Like what the Patriots have been able to do.

Not sure where to put this post.

I was looking at the cap info on the Warpath. (I'm sure it takes much effort. Thanks to those responsible, it's great)

What was the rationale for keeping Bowen last year coming off an injury with a huge cap hit?
