itvnetop 10-18-2013, 05:27 PM I liked the new interpretation of Carrie. Julianne Moore brought the house as the crazy mom. I'll have to think about how it stacks up against the first one, but this one stands well on its own. I like Spacek's lead a little more than Moretz's, but still a fan of Chloe. Judy Greer (the sexed crazed secretary in Archer) does a pretty good turn as the phys ed. teacher.
CultBrennan59 10-19-2013, 01:25 AM I saw Captain Phillips. Good movie. Better than Gravity.
I still say though that if you must see a movie out in theaters now, go see Prisoners. Still has me thinking about it.

I don't remember the original very well, but was Carrie homeschooled in the original??
I am not on either side of the home-school vs. regular school issue but i think it was a fairly accurate portrayal of what could happen unchecked, minus the telekenetic powers. I am referring to the awkardwness / weirdness fitting into normal society. The 2013 film stated that Carrie was homeschooled until the state made it illegal. I did not realize there was states where it was illegal.
Carrie attended High School...naturally in the original, but may have been Home Schooled prior to that. Sounds right
FWIW, the kids that I have been around that have been Home Schooled were...light years ahead of their Fed/State....Ed.....counterparts

Oh yeah, definitely liked Trollhunter. I'm also a huge Neil Marshall fan, so I'm stoked to see the remake. I'm guessing you've seen The Descent and Dog Soldiers?
Norway's got an underrated horror scene. If you haven't already, check out Cold Prey and Dead Snow.

Yeah the Descent was ok, not dog soldiers. But trollhunter kinda started a lil whimpy, but picked up steam as it went on.
Ill look for the other horror movies.
Anybody heard anything about The Monuments Men (2014) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2177771/)
Looks dope

Chico23231 10-30-2013, 05:07 PM Halloween is hear, give me your favorite Horror films of all time. I need some suggestions:
Mine
1. The Shining
2. Pet Cemetery
3. The Others
4. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
5. Blair Witch Project
I like tension from horror movies, not really all gory. Uncomfortable is good. Shining is kinda a easy one to name because its probably one of my top 5 all time. Not a big Horror fan, but need suggestions for the weekend please.

Here's some uncomfortable, tense films:
The Descent
The Conjuring
The Orphanage
Session 9
High Tension
[Rec] (This one has a bit of blood, but it's definitely a heart pumper)
