I thought the goal of the drills were to get the team into field goal range?
I didn't know that, thanks.

DBUCHANON101 08-02-2009, 08:55 PM Just because its a 2 min drill doesnt mean it has to be for a FG. Either way we didnt score so its really irrelevant at this point. Well, not really, if the coaching goal is to move down the field, and they aren't trying to take the deep shot purposely, than I feel a little better. I still would like to see them try, but at least it was not because the players were just messing up. Paintrain 08-02-2009, 10:06 PM Maybe, But if you get the ball to the 35, like they did both times with 15seconds left, you sometimes take a shot into the endzone. I know they are just beginning the TC, but what I saw was several 2minute drills stall at the 35ish, and reminded of last years troubles. If you are on the fringe of FG range and throw a pick by 'going for the endzone' that's a recipe for getting a coach fired. Wait until we see the first 15 plays against the ravens... No video, no comment. CRedskinsRule 08-02-2009, 10:26 PM If you are on the fringe of FG range and throw a pick by 'going for the endzone' that's a recipe for getting a coach fired. I think it's two separate discussions. If the coach said the goal of the drive, and the design of the plays is as was stated, then yes I feel a little better about today's TC. If you are arguing that you should not ever practice a 2minute drill that has to get into the endzone, I disagree. Suppose the score is 32-25 and you have two minutes left then you will need to take those shots. (I happen to be watching the replay of Philly Arizona with 209 left, and Philly needs seven) budw38 08-02-2009, 10:41 PM 2 minute drill ??? You guys think anybody will score on us ??? :) WaldSkins 08-02-2009, 10:44 PM 2 minute drill ??? You guys think anybody will score on us ??? :) Im not worried about the defense this year. DBUCHANON101 08-02-2009, 11:00 PM At the same time you at least have to have someone stretch the defense out-clear outs etc-. If all of the routes are short and underneath the defense is in a better position to make a play on the ball with all of the defenders in the same proximity.IMO Lotus 08-02-2009, 11:05 PM Im not worried about the defense this year. I am worried that the defense may seriously hurt some opponents. :) |
