They had to know that he is a project. He is going to make the 53 man roster because he is still better at blocking than air, at least he can get in the way. Right now the Skins don't have much better options available. I say keep him around for at least a season or 2 to see if he can get back to form.

Does anyone know if he is eligible for practice squad? If he is, that could be an option for the time being, but that wold still leave us thin at OT.

on a slightly less serious note, as long as on 3rd and inches at the goal line he can push the pile forward, I will still be happy

Bumps and bruises are to be expected and we shouldn't get carried away. I would guarantee that guys like Grimm, Bostic, Lachey etc. had bumps and bruises early in training camp that would keep them out of some practices (often as a precautionary measure) but since we weren't getting hourly updates we probably never realized it.

I think the front office could have and should have done more to address the O-Line this off-season. But let's not pretend they didn't address it. They signed two starting guards in Dockery and Bridges, they picked up Edwin Williams as a UDFA (a guy many thought could have been drafted). They drafted Rinehart last year and he seems to be developing, albeit at a slower than desired pace. Yes they're taking a gamble on Mike Williams (but the risk is pretty minimal), and they may have more faith in Heyer than others but they have taken steps to address the OL. They just need to do a bit more

I'm with you on Edwin Williams. I thought from the day we signed him that he had a fantastic shot to make the roster. If this past draft wasn't the deepest for centers maybe ever, Williams definitely would have been drafted.

As far as Mike Williams, I was hoping for the best, but pretty much expecting this. Hard to expect a guy to lose 100lbs and play at a decent level against a great D-line despite not having seen live action since 2005. Oh well. Good story, and maybe with a lot more work he can contribute for us or someone else later this season or next year.

However, if we're going to cut bait on this experiment we need to do so right away, and get another capable body in the fold and up to speed asap. We can't afford to eff around on the O-line. If he's not even close to being NFL ready, get him outta there.

Devin Thomas hurt again...everybody panic!!!!!

I thought that they were just holding him out some more so that he doesn't pull it.

Devin Thomas Limps Off (Updated)

Devin Thomas came up limping after catching a pass from Colt Brennan. Thomas went to the trainers' tent and emerged limping noticeably with his right leg wrapped. Doesn't look good. Can't tell if it's his calf or knee, but my immediate reaction, based solely on his gait is that we won't see him on the field for a couple of days.

Malcolm Kelly is practicing and looks fine. He appears to be getting a few more reps. Of course, he wasn't hurt; he was just getting the afternoons off as a precaution.

After practice ended at 10:26, Jim Zorn met with reporters and indicated that Thomas' hammy is not pulled. The team is just being cautious with him and wants to make sure nothing gets aggravated.

Zorn added that Santana Moss slightly tweaked his hamstring and had ice on it after practice.

Agreed. They're saying some good things about Rinehart, too.
