Ouch. That hurts. I was rooting for the guy, but maybe it's wishful thinking.
Maybe he can be on the practice squad or a short list of people to call if we're desparate. It doesn't sound like he would fare to well against the likes of D Ware, J Tuck, Trent Cole. Damn.

This is very discouraging. It's not that I thought MW would come in & immediately look good in the first week of camp, but given the RT situation, can the Skins really afford a 'project' on the active roster?
Given his weight loss & the way he's playing now, if RI is accurate, he'll need several months to adjust.

Weren't we expecting this from MW. He is a project with the hope of being on the field around Nov/Dec as a crunch. I would love to see him come out and flatten Daniels (no offense to him obviously) but I didn't expect it. If he pans out its a great story, if not then we gave another long shot the shot. One day we will hit it and dang the world will be good.

I really wasn't expecting him to come out and be a lights out RT. I don't know that i was expecting him to be downright horrible either. I guess i was hoping for a guy that shows some signs of good o line play and would be a ok backup or potential starter down the road. He's a former top draft pick not too long ago, so he's gotta have some talent.
I am a little disappointed that he's been so bad by all accounts. Maybe he'll get his strength back over time though. We'll see.

That's a positive. The problem is that the D lines in Philly and Dallas are very good too.
Good compared to the rest of the league, but not to ours.
A little disappointed with the MW news but I guess we need to check our expectations of a guy who's been out of football for 4 years and needed to drop 100 lbs just to get down to playing weight. Gotta wonder if he can show anything this preseason to prove he's worth the roster spot.

We'll see how good these guys are when they square up against New England, Pittsburgh, and the Ravens. The situation is suspect until then IMO.

No surprise with this story. And now other bumps and bruises with the O-line today with Thomas, Heyer, and Rabach...I know its early, but this has been my fear ALL offseason: health and age of the Oline and the FO continued ignorance of the issue. Praying this will not linger and all five starters will be ready for the start of the season.

Bumps and bruises are to be expected and we shouldn't get carried away. I would guarantee that guys like Grimm, Bostic, Lachey etc. had bumps and bruises early in training camp that would keep them out of some practices (often as a precautionary measure) but since we weren't getting hourly updates we probably never realized it.
I think the front office could have and should have done more to address the O-Line this off-season. But let's not pretend they didn't address it. They signed two starting guards in Dockery and Bridges, they picked up Edwin Williams as a UDFA (a guy many thought could have been drafted). They drafted Rinehart last year and he seems to be developing, albeit at a slower than desired pace. Yes they're taking a gamble on Mike Williams (but the risk is pretty minimal), and they may have more faith in Heyer than others but they have taken steps to address the OL. They just need to do a bit more
