Breaking Bad has exceeded The Wire after season 4. It's unbelievably entertaining and well written.
To SS's point about the underrated characters, I think that's one of the hallmarks of great a TV show when the main character(s) aren't driving all the intrigue.

One reason I give Mad Men the slight edge is I can relate to the world of Mad Men (office sex, hard liquor during a midday meeting...no seriously, the actual advertisting/media work) more so than cooking meth

Funny, I can relate to both in some ways. Can't go into details though:)
But Mad Men is a very, very close second to Breaking Bad.

Breaking Bad beats The Wire? Hm, that's bold statement. I might have to check it out.

I gave Terra Nova a second try...two tries too many.
Lost meets Jurassic Park? Brilliant!
I never gave that show a chance, and now I'm not disappointed.
Also am I the only one here who hasn't watched a single episode of Breaking Bad yet?

I was with you until this weekend. I'm firmly on the bandwagon now though.

Mad Men and Breaking Bad seem to be on the same level for me. Both are great TV.
I have tired so many times to get into the Wire and just have not been able too.
I am thinking my next show to start is Sons of Anarchy.

The Wire is my all-time favorite show.
I watched Breaking Bad but quit halfway thru season 2. Didn't hate it just couldn't really get into it. I'm thinking of starting it up again though...

I think it's different strokes, different folks kind of thing. I couldn't get into SOA at all. Seemed too contrived and predictable.
Breaking Bad, The Wire, Mad Men. I like them almost equally.

I tried watching SOA when it first came on and found it really boring and uninteresting; which is ironic because I love Mad Men but I've heard others complain that it can be boring.
