firstdown 10-28-2009, 09:38 AM Since I want to rebuild the o-line first, I would bring in Jeff Garcia and battle it with CB5 for a starting QB while we use the 2010 draft to rebuild the o-line exclusively.
If we had 2 1st picks then I would consider drafting a QB (possibly Bradford/McCoy) with one of those picks.
The problem is that we need a QB that develops with the line. If we just address the line then your talking two years or so then we find a QB and talking another 2 to 3 years and by that time some of those OL contracts will be running out.
skinsfan69 10-28-2009, 09:51 AM I wouldnt mind seeing us go after Kolb, he has experience in the WCO and did well since his Balt game. If not i just hope we build the Oline in the draft and FA and hell, let CB give it a go as we transition. I dont see a QB worth our picks in the draft, we have bigger issues and JC is gone by his own choice after this season IMO. plus we also need to bring in a RB to take over for CP who has clearly lost his burst.
I bought this up in another thread but I think Smoot said he's under contract until 2010.
skinsfan69 10-28-2009, 09:56 AM In an uncapped year Kellen Clemens would not be an unrestricted free agent
People shouldn't read too much into Moore not starting over Delhomme. Delhomme is a veteran with a massive contract, but that doesn't mean Moore can't play. More importantly he probably wouldn't cost too much (well maybe a 5th rounder which for us might be too much). I'm not advocating him, just saying he's a possibility
In the past when I've brought up Tarvaris Jackson, the reaction has been less than encouraging...so I think I'll stop bringing him up
If Shanahan is our guy, Matt Leinart will absolutely be on our radar. If it's Gruden, I don't see it happening
What about bringing in both guys? What about John David Booty? He was one of the top QB's in the country his senior year.
Defensewins 10-28-2009, 11:47 AM You can't pick QBs based on whether you like them or not. JEEZ!!!
I don't know the guy.
What I was trying to say is I like what I saw of him on the field, the limited amount of time he played. He had his ups and downs, but I would like to see more of him and see if he has anything, that is all. There are no guarantees in picking a QB whether it is high or low in the draft or picking up a FA. Guys like Brady in NE prove you do not have to be a high pedigree guy.

Both guys?
jsarno 10-28-2009, 11:55 AM Oh no, tell me you did not say JaMarcus Russell!?!?
Jason Campbell, Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, not to mention my grandmother are all Hall-of-Famers compared to Russell.
What a bag of crap he is on the field.
Im not really saying I want Russell...far from it...just threwing out any name that came to my head that might be available.
For the record, I want Colt Brennan, and I want to draft Bradford, or if he's taken, Tebow.

In terms of veterans, I like the idea of getting Bulger. He's on a horrible team, but the man has talent.
every analyst this year has said that
So might it therefore be worth keeping Campbell, at least while we continue to groom a new QB?

His age doesn't concern you? Shouldn't we go younger than that?
Build a Badass O-line, and keep Campbell until you can draft an equally Badass qb. Campbell may well prove.....serviceable behind a great line.
